5great little sharpenerDec 11, 2008
By L. Meyer
I got this battery powered sharpener several months ago and I just love it. I am taking several art classes, and so I use it frequently. I have gone through entire pencils and still have not had to replace the batteries. The shavings container is a nice size - I can sharpen a pencil at least 20 times before it has to be emptied, and it is easy to see when it is full because the container is clear.

I read reviews on other battery powered models where people often complain about the tip of the pencil breaking off in the sharpener and being impossible to get out. I frequently sharpen colored pencils which have softer lead than standard pencils, and I did have the tip break off once. (I think I jammed the pencil in too hard anyways.) I simply removed the outer container and used a pin to push the broken piece out of the sharpener, and it worked like new again.

If you want a small and reliable battery powered sharpener, you can't beat the price for this one. My only gripe would be that it makes a bit of a mess when you try to empty the shavings. You have to hold the whole thing over the trash can when you empty it, as the container comes off in two pieces. Or you can just take the lid off, but you have to make sure to hold the bottom part of the container on when you turn it upside down to dump the shavings out. Either way it is not enough of a problem for me to give it less than 5 stars!

4Pretty HandyJul 31, 2009

I was in a bind, in another city, and had left my Panasonic KP4A-BK at home. Checked out the iPoint here. It got a good review. And a local office store had it. Hallelujah!

The Panasonic KP4A-BK is the best battery sharpener I've used for getting a super sharp point, but the iPoint sharpener gives me a little more exposed lead, just with a little less point. So, toss up between the two.

I use Col Erase color pencils and they do a knock out job of sharpening them.

The iPoint does stop turning when your pencil is ready, which is very nice.

I have tried a pile of battery powered sharpeners and tossed them all--except for the above two, they're both great. (As far as battery powered guys go. My plug in sharpener at home still gives me the perfect point.)

I'm glad I own them both.

4So far so good...Mar 15, 2010

I received the sharpener today and have run about six pencils through it. They were giving me trouble with broken leads in my other sharpener which is electric and not this brand.I bought this primarily for colored pencils. It is working well for me and is not aggressive at all.

The auto stop works well and although it won't give you a pin sharp tip, what it does give is more than fine for this type of work...Hopefully it will stand the test of time.

Now I can truly say this sharpener is fantastic. I just replaced the batteries (Duracell Alkaline's) for what may have been the first time. Col-erase and prisma are no problem and i have yet to break a point,. The auto-stop works perfectly. The battery rundown is brief and you may miss it if you're not paying attention. Which means the next time you go to use it, it won't work.

I run everything from Stad Mars 4h to Blackwings (Aprox:4b) with no issues. I highly recommend this sharpener.

5love it!Apr 08, 2010

I purchased this sharpener about a year ago and its still working great on the same batteries. I grew up in the 70's with the tiny plastic sharpeners in my pencil case that were messy and barely sharpened my school pencils. Then working as a school teacher I had the clunky, square, noisy electric sharpener in my classroom and found it really messy to clean. This unit is great! It has a sleek, attractive design (reminds me of a mini kitchen blender)it hardly takes up any room because it has a vertical design, can be placed anywhere because it runs on batteries instead of electricity, and it has sharpened many of my pencils without any problems. It does make noise when its sharpening but its quick enough not to be bothersome to anyone. The clean-up is very easy with its removeable cap and cup. Overall, I recommend this product highly to anyone who likes to have finely sharpened pencils and is looking for a quick and easy way to get this task done. It also is an attractive desk top piece and would compliment any setting.

5Best portable/cordless SharpenerSep 30, 2010
By J. Miller
Looked and bought a few sharpeners prior to this one, with no satisfaction. Bought one at a local large retailer and it broke with-in a few months. This sharpener works excellent has sharpened a box of 100 with no problem. My daughter uses it on her colored pencil and gives her an excellent sharpening every time. Don't waste your money on cheaper sharpeners.
