2Not built to lastJul 29, 2010
I paid almost $90 for this charger at Radio Shack because I was in dire need. I bought it in March or April of 2009. Yesterday, 07.28.10, it died on me. There is a blue light that comes on when the charger is plugged into the outlet. Even though the charger remained in the outlet, the blue light faded after less than 3 minutes. There was no power/"juice" being sent to my laptop. I tried several outlets; I also tried using the car charger that came in the set. The same thing occurred; the blue light faded after less than 3 minutes. Also, I found that the iGo did not "charge" my computer's battery. Once I disconnected the iGo charger, my battery would last about 5 minutes and then my computer would shut down.

4Most effective solution.Jul 10, 2010
I now have both the top end version of the IGO adapter and the Juice version. I paid, through Amazon 1/4 for the Juice model. My lost, high end unit was returned the day after the Juice unit was ordered, but I do not regret From and adequacy standpoint it is actually more portable and slight smaller (good) the 70 watt output is quite adequate for any of the newer, longer battery life computers. One must still be careful with the interconnect jack because the plug in puts more stress on the computer side plug in as a result of the right angle plug rather than the straight plug provide by computer manufacturers.
The juice does not come with the additional device adapter for simultaneous charging of laptop and phone, but for the $85 dollar difference in the prices offered by vendors, it's a no brainer.
I don't remember who the low price vendor was that I bought it through but they were fine, reliable and delivered a new, in the box, full kit juice unit. I was pleased with that. As a pretty tech savvy user, there is no tough decision between the juice for under $50 or the 90 watt kawonka for 130.For the higher price you get more output than almost any computer needs today, a bigger bag full of stuff and now advantage in quality or performance.
Warning.. with all of these multi head travel units, take care to not leverage it at the computer interface. It can break the connection right at the mother board which is an expensive fix.

1Product will die within a year or soJul 08, 2010
I have owned two of this company's (iGo) chargers and both have died within about a year. Specifically, the charger will simply stop charging. When plugged in the blue light on the charger will come on and then immediately fade. The company was great about honoring the two-year warranty on the first charger, but the replacement died a year later. Unfortunately their warrant is from the date of the initial purchase, so if the replacement dies and the two years from initial purchase have passed you are out of luck. I don't know about you, but that simply doesn't sit well with me. If you warranty your product for two years, then the clock should start again when the product is replaced.

Seriously consider purchasing a universal charger manufactured by a different company.

1Complete waste of money.May 21, 2010
Every time I reach for my iGo juice to power something that I am missing the cord to, or need an extra cord for, I regret the purchase. This device has three fatal flaws, any of which would be reason enough not to buy it.

First, it can only provide the rated 70-watts of output for a subset of input and outputs. It may power your (supposedly supported) laptop just fine when it's connected to AC, but then you plug it into your car or an airplane, and it can't pump out enough juice.

Second, all of the connections are loose. The supply power cord, and the device power cord both connect to the juice itself through simple slip connections. These easily come unplugged with a slight tug. The tips themselves literally fall off the end of the device cable if they're not supported from underneath by a table.

Third, iGo refuses to provide polarity and voltage ratings for any of its tips. If you want to hook up a device that isn't specifically on their (tiny) list of supported devices, you have to dig out the multimeter and test the tips yourself or you're just plain out of luck. I wouldn't complain about this if they didn't call it a "Universal" adapter in the device name. This is not a universal adapter. It's meant ONLY for a limited set of devices that iGo certifies for use with it.

5Great product for travelersDec 04, 2009
I used the iGo Juice to charge two different laptops and two cell phones when traveling. I can charge them all from a wall socket or a vehicle. Talk about options! It is a great device.
