1Print Comes OffAug 03, 2010
By Sign Maker Shan "mrs_shannon_m"
The printing on this ruler wears off and you are left with a piece of steel with a few numbers and black marks. This is a good ruler when you first get it but the line are pretty important to... MEASURE THINGS! Steel rulers are much better than plastic. Now Westcott needs to come up with a better way to make the numbers and lines... try laser engraving!!! Do that and I will buy one.

1Eventually turns into a nice metal stickDec 19, 2010
By Tobey
Never thought I'd review a ruler, but this is just such a ripoff. I bought the aluminum version of this and I really loved it when I first bought it, it seemed heavy and well made. I thought this would be the last ruler I'd ever have to buy. But after two months of VERY occasional use, the print is starting to come off! It looks like it's 30+ years old now. What good is a ruler with no print? The Westcott name on this ruler is meaningless, the original Westcott quality is obviously not there anymore. Oh well, the logo will probably rub off soon too anyway.

2Nice ruler with messy sticker ruining cork backingMay 26, 2011
By L. Simon
A steel Ruler is a steel ruler - not much to say about it. Most, including this one, have a cork backing so they will be non-scratching and non-slipping. The one on this looks nice but unfortunately the manufacturer put a product sticker with UPC and other info right in the middle of the cork backing. It's the kind of sticker that will never come off of a surface which isn't smooth and sealed (and the cork is neither) without tearing and leaving a gluey mess of torn sticker paper that is impossible to get off.

Yeah, that is a relatively minor complaint but one that I find extremely irritating.

1Poor qualitySep 02, 2011
By Ali
I bought this a month ago. I use it lightly maybe once a week for work. At this point most of the lines and numbers have come off. I don't have sweaty hands and live in a rather pleasant environment, so these are not reasons why the print has come off. The ruler is simply of poor quality (the metal, however has lasted well). What is the point in having a ruler that can't measure anything??

3Almost too longSep 07, 2011
By Clark Poland
I purchased this ruler because every now and then I need a longer ruler for projects. I figured this would be the perfect solution, based on how well the 12 inch model has worked for me in the past. However, at 18 inches, this guy is almost too long--specifically because it is too flexible. Expect to shift your hand at least once, maybe twice, to make sure it grips the paper to make a straight line. It almost defeats the point of having the cork backing. If I treat it with a little care, and move slower, it treats me well back in return. But I'm not sure it's worth the money and the effort when I have to "join" separate line segments anyway.
