this knife is bigger than it appears in the pictures, but that being said, it is still pocket friendly, although some might think its not,i will admit that it does weigh you down and that it takes time to get used to carrying it if you're not used to carrying heavy objects in your pocket.

the tools on it are, with pro and cons.
-- a small blade. pros-its a second blade. cons- i dont see much use for it when you have another larger blade, it jsut seems to take up space.

--a large blade. -pro, it comes in handy for cutting things. con-it doesn't lock into place.

--pliers.-pro, pretty handy, and has wire stripper/cutter thing on it. con-not the best pair available, and can only cut small wire. takes up 3 times the space of the scissors.

--scissors. pro-they come in handy when none are available. con-they are standard swiss army knife scissors.

--nail/metal file. pro-can file your nails or a piece of metal. con-not best file available, could have put a better nail file and left the metal file off.

--wood saw. -pro. can cut wood if needed. -con. only useful for small pieces and will get saw shavings in your knife.

--can opener/small screwdriver. -pro, saves space by using it for two purposes. can open cans, and does a decent job of screwing screws. -con, the can opener is for emergency use only and the screwdriver tip, thanks to the can opener is fat and stubby and can only be used on exposed screw heads.

--bottle opener/flat head screw driver. -pro can open bottles at all times. and can screw screws. -con. not many old style bottles around here.

--philips-head screwdriver. -pro, can be used. -con, its on back of knife and very awkward to use.

--wood chisel. -pro. can chisel wood. -con, not very big and on back side of knife, making it pretty useless, and you need a hammer to chisel wood, but cannot strike the tools on opposite side. victorinox needs to think these things through.

--fine flat head screwdriver. pro-small flat head screwdriver thats slime and long. -con, its on back side of knife making it awkward to use.

--hook. I have no idea what its for.

--reamer. I believe this is used for sewing or something?

-what i would change.
i would like to see a ball point pin or atleast a light added, the wood chisel removed and the screw driver heads moved to the top of the knife for better use.

-summary
you can find most of these tools on other swiss army knife, but this one has its uses and covers a whole range of needs without being too large.

I bought this knife as an upgrade from a previous Swiss Army Knife. I was afraid it would feel too large in my pocket but it isn't. The quality is standard perfection in all ways that I have come to expect from this brand. The pliers have come in handy as well as scissors. I use the tooth pick several times a day and the blades are sharp as a razor and hold their edges like no other knife. The soft edges of the main body keep from wearing my pocket out and if never jabs me. The saw will make quick work of any hard wood. Having locking blades could be a handy feature because I have had the blads close on my finger when using it wrong...results is a nasty cut.I feel that this is the perfect tool for me but you can find the same great qualities when choosing a kife that has the tools that you will use. This product works great. I love it. I love swiss army materials. Always a good durable product. Doesn't dull very easily that is why I love it. The scisscors and pliers come in handy a lot. The saw did once two when a friend of mine couldn't fit his couch through the door so we sawed off a corner on the couch and bingo it was through.

My fiance and I ordered these for our groomsmen as their wedding party gift. They arrived promptly and in great condition. The knives were of sturdy construction, a nice hefty weight, but not too large that you couldn't actually carry it in your pocket without your pants falling down. When we handed out the gifts, the guys couldn't stop raving about the knives. So as long as they work as well as they look, we will be in great shape. I would definitely buy/recommend this product again!

This is a great knife. It has everything you need and nothing you don't need. I won't list all the tools because others have. I really like the scissors, pliers and very sharp blades. It is a little bulky but not too bad. I have been carrying a Victorinox fisherman knife which has an utterly useless (to me) fish scaler, and doesn't have the pliers, or the little chisel.
There is a little tiny hole in the red side piece at the base of the Philips head screwdriver where you can carry a straight pin for picking out slivers or what ever else you can do with a straight pin. it doesn't come with the pin, so I just grabbed one out of my sewing drawer.
the tweezers and tooth pick come in handy all the time. I use them a lot.
Another cool tool is the metal saw and file. I haven't used it yet, but I know I will eventually.

I would recommend this one over any other knife. the Champ has a few more tools but they aren't really useful, and I don't think it is worth the extra bulk. the Craftsman pushes the limits on bulk, but it still feels comfortable in my pocket.

The quality is note worthy. I work in manufacturing and I will say that Victorinox does a marvelous job of crafting their products. If you are new to Victorinox you can't go wrong. Frankly these prices are too good to be true for such a fine piece of workmanship. The blades are sharp, the tools precise, the toothpick and tweezers never fall out accidentally, the steel is strong, and everything is polished to a shine for a striking appearance.
