I don't normally write reviews but after experiencing a major power surge that blew out our electrical panel, I felt the performance of this product should be reported.

First and foremost, this product rocks! With as severe of a surge as we experienced I had nightmares of blown-out electronics throughout our home. The reality is that nothing connected with Tripp Lite surge protectors suffered any damage whatsoever! That is incredible!!! I cannot say the same for the condition of the Tripp Lite surge protectors. The surge protector did its job and gave its life protecting my equipment. Even better still, when I contacted Tripp Lite to report the damaged surge protector, their customer service was stellar; they took down all relevant information and then immediately shipped me replacement surge protectors. Can't beat that; a company that actually stands by their product and honors their warranty.

I am completely sold now on these Tripp Lite surge protectors. I have now ordered additional of their surge protectors to cover items that I didn't previously protect and also to have spares.

This item is a bargain at any price. Consider it like a purchase of insurance; since the manufacturer stands by their product this is a must have investment.

5Ugly, tough, and gets the job doneApr 15, 2010

In an attempt to keep the bedroom nice and cool, we just installed a window AC unit, you know the cheap bargain basement kind that wreck havoc on your AC quality. Having a plasma TV on the same circuit, which is a bit finicky in regards to electric quality, this seemed to be a sound investment. Plus it would act as a surge protector for the air conditioner.

I didn't want a bulky strip, but I knew I needed solid EMI/RFI filtering, so this was a natural fit. The unit is as big and ugly as you could imagine, and unlike what I would have expected, it connects to one wall (not both) outlet and hangs below that one (leaving the other free, but unfiltered). A bracket and screws holds it in place (and would be needed for all but the tightest new sockets). Other than that, setup is a breeze. A few LEDs keep you in the loop as far as what's going on.

I immediately noticed a crisper picture and less jitter when the compressor kicks in.

I use this for my new front loading washer/dryer. The dryer is LP gas, so it runs off 110v. It's a VERY cheap insurance policy in Florida.

4Good Buy for the MoneyApr 02, 2010

This is a great buy for the money if you are looking for a compact solution that provides both surge protection and EMI noise filtering. I was looking for something small to throw in a guitar pedal effects box I carry around that would not take up much space, but still give me decent power line noise filtering. This worked great. I also use these in a lab at work when I want to connect to a power source that doesn't already have surge suppression and noise filtering on it. One drawback is that it only uses one plug on the back to attach to the outlet, so if you are using it in an area where someone walking by could bump into it, it's not sturdily attached (two plugs on the back would have provided a little more stability). However it does come with a small L-bracket that can be attached to the socket cover screw which helps a little. Only using one plug does have the advantage of leaving one of the outlet plugs free (gives you three outlets -two sppressed/filtered and one not) and also lets it be used at the end of an extension cord.

If you take your computer seriously and have just a monitor and case PSU to power, then this is the surge protector you need. All black finish matches nicely with my other components. The LEDs make it easy to check on problems quickly. This takes up only one socket but obviously blocks the second below it.

My only criticism is the rubber stopper on the back for keeping the block upright is just a bit too large and actually pushes the prongs partially out of the socket. I had to press on it a bit to get it flush.
