I live in a 70 year old apartment building. The wiring is, shall we say, inadequate. In the past, a surge that happened when workmen flipped the main breaker back on after their power tools blew out the power in the whole bldg., fried my microwave oven. I wasn't even using it, and poof!, it was gone. So you can see, I need surge protectors for everything.

I hooked up my cable, cable box, and TV to this protector. Then a storm knocked out the power. It came back on w/ a loud clack!, and both the protector and everything attached to it are still functioning fine. I also use a Tripp Lite ULTRABLOK428 Surge Protector 2 outlets Direct-plug 1410 Joules for the outlet that I plug my refrigerator and new microwave into, to avoid a repeat of the last minor calamity. It cleans the electricity as well as blocking surges, and I could swear my refrigerator sounds like it is running more smoothly, w/o hesitations.

I'm generally not a brand-loyal sort of person, but I will only use Tripp Lite surge protectors.

I needed two protectors for cable coax to my small tv's. I have 3 tripplite isobars that I use for my entertainment systems and computers. This unit works great too. The tv showed no signal loss after the connection (stayed at 85% strength, although I do run all my cable through a booster). I have never had an issue with tripplite and surge damage.

Needed a highly reliable surge suppressor for the TV and peripherals cabinet. This does the trick, plus protects the TV from possible surge on the antenna/cable connector. Brilliant.

I chose this particular unit because of its capacity and shape; it had to fit behind a dresser and provide at least 3 outlets, plus coax protection. I have had good results from Tripp Lite products in the past, but have no hard data on this one. It appears to be of good construction and is a good shape for my purposes. I believe that it will provide adequate protection in this application, which includes 22" LCD TV, VCR and cable box.
