I was very skeptical about this product, especially since USB to Firewire was supposed to be extremely difficult to work with one another. Any available products were priced atleast > $100. So, making this work on a non-firewire PC was a big concern.

However, this product was priced just right and as soon as it was plugged in, Windows recognized the PC card. Next step, when I connected the Camcorder, the intended firewire device for use, the camcorder image showed up in windows movie maker with no issues - first time!

I bought one and it didn't work. Nothing under the device manager, no "windows has detected new hardware" message. Nothing.

I'd send it back but it's not worth my time. Definitely not recommended.

Works great running under Windows 7 x64. No drivers needed. I just popped it in and it works. If you have a laptop and need the full on big Firewire port, this card is a good solution.

I ordered this and for some reason it will not work with my Toshiba Satellite Laptop. I had to call the manufacture to no avail. Then I had to call Toshiba they also said it should work. Then I took it to a computer store and they said my PC needs a different card?? Amazon dosen't accept returns if the package is opened! Amazon also offers no information on returns. Now I've spent hard earned money for something I have NO use for as well as the firewire I can't use.
