5Works well, no complaintsApr 12, 2006
By D. Osterman "Kurt"
This wireless card has proven to be reliable. After getting in in the mail I installed the drivers and hardware, but the software TRENDnet provided me didn't work or something so I just simply switched to microsoft's built in wireless configuration. Using the drivers supplied by the cd and microsoft's wireless software I got it to work and suggest it to the next guy. I am a floor and a door away from my access point and I have good reception. Just make sure your access point isn't faulty. (By the way I am running Windows XP)

Also see TRENDnet's 54 mbps pci slot wireless adapter, this is simply but an upgrade from that and it has proven itself through the reviews of our fellow customers.

-In a nutshell I would recommend this and am probably getting another.

4Works out of the box with UbuntuMay 02, 2007

I bought this card to install into an Ubuntu(7.04) Linux box. The card was recognized by Ubuntu immediately and it loaded the correct drivers. If you have any trouble with the driver, make sure you have the linux-restricted-modules installed, as the madwifi driver for this card is included in that package. Just search for madwifi in the package manager and it should install everything you need.

I have yet to get WPA working correctly with this card, and I'm not sure if it's the card or the operating system. Some people on various message boards have claimed it works after some tweaking, so I'm going to look into that.

All in all, I'm very happy I purchased this card, and the price can't be beat. Several of the other cards I looked at by the big name manufacturers (D-Link, Linksys, Netgear...) were more expensive and had nominal support in Linux.

I have two of these cards. No problems and installation went smoothly under Windows XP home.

4Excellent CardMar 21, 2007
By Leland G. Whitlock
The TRENDnet wireless card is excellent, but the setup could definitely be better, especially if you use an encrypted access point or router (i.e. WEP, WPA, etc.). The first thing I found was I had to turn off Windows XP's wireless configuration wizard. Next I had to configure everything using the TRENDnet Wireless Configuration utility. It seems a bit touchy to get it to remember the password, especially if you used something other than the default first key. Once everything works and it keeps the password it will be trouble free from then on. Also, on an unprotected access point it has no problems.

3Toss-up between good and badDec 27, 2009

When it's working, it's an excellent device. It won't detect any wireless access points(either Secure or unsecure) after restarting the computer, however. The only way to get it working again is to reinstall the driver utility, and that's very annoying. I tried the latest driver from the website, and still experiencing the same problem. Does anyone have the same problem? I would like to seek some help. Trendnet customer service is of no help...no reply for a week yet. My system: Dell 4600; Window XP; 2G RAM. Overall: 5 stars when it's working; 0 star when you have to reload the driver after every startup.
