4Very Good for Intermediate Thickness Paper StacksFeb 01, 2006
By Lonnie E. Holder "The Review's the Thing"
We frequently handle stacks of paper that are up to 1/4" thick. Once upon a time we relied on paper clips of various sizes to keep these papers together. However, paper clips have their limitations, and are not generally preferable for long-term storage. After a small amount of research we settle on this stapler for our needs that were greater than a standard desktop stapler.

This stapler will handle heavy duty staples up to 5/8" in thickness. We have a box of 1/4" and a box of 3/8" staples that have covered all of our needs to date. Other than the fact that the boxes of these staples are bigger than standard staples, the boxes are easy to deal with. I do recommend matching the staple thickness to the stack of paper, particularly with shorter stacks. Too thick staples can cause problems in stacking, and sometimes can present a minor hazard if the ends stick out.

The long lever arm provides plenty of leverage for paper stacks up to 3/8" thick. I suspect that a paper stack approaching a half inch in thickness might be a challenge even for this stapler. I also recommend placing the stapler on a firm surface to provide adequate support during stapling.

One difficulty with this stapler is finding room for it. A standard desk stapler is relatively unobtrusive. This stapler, while not quite a monster, takes up a chunk of real estate, both vertically as well as horizontally. You probably would not want to put this stapler on your desk unless you use it a lot. A work area adjacent to a copier or away from your primary desk work area are probably preferred.

There are a lot of staplers of various sizes and capabilities. This one has met our needs for paper thicknesses up to about a quarter inch very nicely. This stapler is cost effective and easy to use. This stapler has also been quite reliable and it is easy to remove and replace staples. I recommend this stapler for those needs above the capability of a standard desk stapler.

4Stanley Bostich staplerApr 09, 2010
By Brian K. Lilreath
This is a must have in the office when you want to stay organized. It handles about 110 papers really well but its not worth pushing it to the 130 page as it is speced out. It is the best heavy duty stapler I have ever used and I highly recommend it. It only jambs about once per week with frequent usage and it is relatively easy to unjamb. Its a bit on the heavy side but that is not so bad.

5A joy to useJul 27, 2010
By X. Pert
I have used this stapler for documents that range from 20 pages to 100 pages and it does an excellent job. The fact that it requires changing staples for different sized documents is a minor nuisance when you consider what a nice job it does -- no points sticking out and no bulges due to excess staple size! The stapler is easy to operate and does not require an excessive amount of force. I highly recommend it.

1broken staplerFeb 28, 2011

This "heavy duty" stapler is anything but. The tab holding in the staples is a light piece of plastic that breaks off after a year or two of use. How dumb can they be making a heavy duty metal staple dependent on a crappy little plastic tab

5Flawless Performance so far.Mar 20, 2011
By Trading in Omaha "Jeff"
I bought this for my office about 6 months ago and so far I am not aware of it jamming or having a stapling error yet. I bought the Bostich Premium 3/8 staples to go with it. You can staple as few pages as you like although the staple is a heavier gauge so stapling anything less than 10 pages makes the staple disproportionally thick compared to the paper. With the 3/8 staples the most pages you can do is about 55. I am sure if you had longer staples it would easily do more pages than that. The leverage of the handle makes this easy to use. I have a very petite woman who works in my office, under 100 lbs, and she has no problem stapling 50 pages.

With the solid metal construction, I would imagine we will be using this stapler for many years to come.
