5Works great, and no major impact on sound qualityNov 30, 2009
By Brian Rondeau
I've been using this in my home multi-source/multi-room audio system (lots of ground loops there!) for a year now. It removes the typical ground loop hum exactly as it is supposed to. Being a cheaper unit, I was initially afraid it might ruin my sound quality. However, everything sounds just fine. Just to verify things, I brought the unit to work to test it out. Using a function generator and oscilloscope, I compared the In versus Out voltage from 20 Hz to 25 kHz. Above 50 Hz, it is pretty much flat for all practical purposes (+/- 0.5 dB in a straight-ish line). Below 50 Hz, it drops off a bit, but still not too bad until you hit 30 Hz (-0.95 dB) and 20 Hz (-1.51 dB). All in all, this is much better than I expected for a nice cheap unit such as this. I have graphic equalizers on every zone, so I don't really care about the bass drop off, I can easily adjust for that. In short, buy this unit, it works great. If you need to, just turn up the low bass an extra click.

3It's eliminates the ground loop... but it also flatens toneMay 14, 2009
By Andrew Fortune "BigFortune1"
I used 2 of these in my Honda Element because I just installed a new stereo with a 750 watt Infinity amp. My head unit is a Pioneer AVIC-Z2 andit has a lot of ground noise coming through the sub and rear outputs. I tried everything to get rid of it, but nothing worked. I tried the Raptor GL15 as a last resort and it knocked all the ground noise out. Unfortunately, it also knocked some of the tone out. It sounded flat. I was frustrated.

I took another chance and tried the PAC SNI1 and it worked much better. I can't tell if there is any tone loss, so I'm satisfied with it. It costs a little bit more, but in my experience the PAC works better on a system that uses a lot of watts.

5works as advertisedFeb 05, 2007

This unit works as advertised, and it's cheaper than Radio Shack's version of the same product (catalog # 270-054). Plus, it comes with male RCA jacks at one end and female RCA jacks at the other - better for most applications than Radio Shack's male-male cables.

5Works just as describedDec 27, 2010
By Theo
My stereo was having some grounding issues, resulting in an annoying hum when the unit was on. I thought I was out of luck until I saw a recommendation on a website for a ground loop isolator. It was cheap on Amazon, so I went for it. After plugging it in, sure enough, then hum was nearly wiped out. You can hear it very slightly if you listen closely when nothing else is playing, but when there is something playing over the speakers, it's not noticeable at all.

I'm very happy with it!

1Did as advertised, BUT one problem...Feb 03, 2010
By L. Martin "Coolloyd"
This ground loop isolator definitely eliminates the hum going into your stereo system, but after only 3 months of periodic usage, it went dead and I'm beyond Amazon's 30 day warranty. I figure you get what you pay for! The cheap prices means cheap quality. If I were you, I would look for another model. Radio Shack has one for 16.99, so I will buy from there because their return policy is much better than Amazon's.
