4Good Stereo with Unique optionsNov 23, 2005
By phearly
Have had this stereo for a couple weeks now & am fairly happy with it. Though I'm no prof. audiofile, I think the sound quality is great. I love the USB option & it seems to work perfectly so far, as does the radio & CD player(no skips so far). There don't seem to be very many stereos out there that boast this USB port feature & I don't know why not. I think it's a lot handier than having to burn MP3 cd's(which this model will play also). The only drawbacks that I can see are not being able to remove the face plate when the car key isn't in the on or ACC position(since the display is motorized), the preset buttons aren't marked very visibly & the silver buttons around the volume knob aren't lighted at all which makes it a little hard to navigate a CD or the USB drive or change radio stations @ night. For under $100 I think this stereo is a great value & would recommend it.

5great cd radio playerDec 17, 2007
By Kennedy De Silva
I've only had this player for a week now, so forgive me if I have yet to detect any problems.

First of all, unlike other folks out there, I've not experience any cd skipping while driving or parked. I've also been able to get my U3 memory stick to play music with it. Interestingly enough I plugged my Ipod nano into it(was curious) and was able to play BBC podcast 'Digital Planet' and some other tech shows on it. I was pleasantly surprised about that one. I did not check deep into navigating the Ipod via the radio to see how easy that was.

As for the other 'features' I haven't really messed with them much either, because I was just looking for a basic radio cd player but the usb feature caught my attention. Figured I could hold more music on a 2gig stick than carrying aroung multiple cds in the car or having to bother buying any cd changer.

So I'm happy with it and I hope this review was helpful to somebody......or yeah make sure your stick is in a FAT32 format. Both usb memory sticks I tried were configured that way.

Ok six months later review is as follows: USB no longer works and had to open the set to retrieve a cd. Apparently one of the spindles broke and it was not allowing me to eject, while at the same time forcing me to reset the radio to have it work. Highly annoyed at that (broken CD spindle)since I rearly used the cd. I definatelty wouldn't recommend this product again. Well, unless it was for your mother inlaw or something.LOL

4a little overpriced for its features and qualityJan 27, 2007
By NG "Narayan"
Got this unit because this was the one of the few with an USB port. I figured with the convenience of USB flash memory it might just be the best way to store, transport and play music than any other digital media out there. The USB port works as specified provided it is formatted as FAT and not as NTFS. However the type of formatting is not specified in the manual.

Secondly, the AM/FM tuner does not resolve frequencies toward the start of the FM frequency band(~87-90MHz) in both Local/DX modes.

Pros:

USB port(for USB flash drives formatted as FAT).

Has dual channel line in/line out and S-audio ports though it is seldom used.

Easy install.

Cons:

Mediocre sound quality.

Dim display hardly visible in daylight.

5Mixed FeelingsMar 23, 2006
By alysania "Alysania"
I recently purchased this car stereo and have been 99.99% happy with the product. The fact that it accepts USB flash memory is fantastic, and a great way to keep your music selection in the car fresh, without having to burn a new cd every time you want new music. The only thing is the USB stick format - it must be FAT32 to get the full capacity of the stick (I use a 1gb Sandisk stick), and to work in the stereo. The only .01% that makes me not 100% appreciate the stereo is the random function - it tends to repeat the same songs in the same sequence every time you turn it on to the USB setting. It's almost better just to play them straight in order and only put one song from each group on the stick instead of dealing with the poor randomizer. I did the install myself which wasn't too difficult, and it works great!
[EDIT]
about four months after installing the unit, the USB reader stopped working - I have contacted Pyle three times for an RMA, but haven't gotten an answer. How Frustrating!

Gave the unit 1 star because zero is not an option, wish I would have read the reviews before buying. Looks pretty but it is junk. Will not read all MP3 formats, but you don't know that until you read the owner's manual and it TELLS you it won't. My sandisc 4gb unit plugs and plays in everything but this unit. The motorized face is cool, but it's so stupid because it automatically retracts when you remove the faceplate, meaning you have to "clip" (cram) the face on every time you want to use it again (that's in the owner's manual too). My unit immediately gave me CD player problems even after resetting the system numerous times, using numerous discs that played in numerous computers around my house. Save your money and don't buy this, seems like in less than 6 months every single person has had problems with this. The only effective thing it will do is AM/FM.
Did I tell you you not only have to pay the return shipping, included with your unit you must send PYLE a 15 dollar check for return freight to fix/replace your 60 dollar player?
