5Works under Windows 7 64-bit using Vista 64-bit driversMar 18, 2010
By Raymond Perry
I have been using this card for about 3 years, and I am posting this mainly to provide assurance to anyone using Windows 7. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit. Promise Technology's website did not have Windows 7 drivers, but since many Vista drivers work in Win 7 I downloaded the Vista 64-bit drivers. After installing the drivers my system recognized the card, and it seems to be working perfectly. I am using the card to add additional SATA ports to a modern motherboard, ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO, which has onboard SATA ports. FWIW, I was previously using it on a Biostar board which also had onboard SATA ports.

3Don't install on older motherboards!Mar 30, 2008

Check the mobo compatability list before you buy this. If you install this on an older motherboard it will screw up your operating system (thank God for system restore). This card doesnt work with Pentium 4 motherboards at all.

5Heavy Use Card!Jan 12, 2012

Bought this after two other cards failed on me in my software RAID 5 on my file server. has performed at peak performance for the last year. highly recommended.

5Great piece of hardware! I Wish I would have bought earlier...Feb 23, 2011

The card installs in PCI slot on motherboard and has four ports for SATA II drives. The install disk takes care of the necessary drivers... installed a new Seagate 1TB drive at same time. Works perfectly... wait a speed difference with SATA II.

5Promise SATA300 TX4 ControllerOct 30, 2010
By W. Lamp
I have had zero problems with previous Promise Tech. products so went with a known quality company.

It works as advertised. For additional SATA port needs, this works fine. I am using it to "drive" the E-SATA port (port only with internal cable to connect to a controller) that came with a HD disk enclosure. The card specs. matched the enclosure specs. and will let me add a third, or eventually 4th, internal SATA drive.

The only problem is that the driver came with a CD to make a boot floppy disk to install the driver. The company's web site download section had the driver & it installed and works just fine under Windows XP Home and Windows 7 Professional (dual boot computer).

I understand it isn't intended for RAID. That is not a concern here as I don't have, or plan to have, a RAID array on this machine.
