5Best Surge Protector OverallOct 26, 2004
By J. Rosenthal "IT Professional"
Not only do I use this model at home, but I insist my clients buy these in bulk and that every desk have one. These units have a combination of features that make them simply the best for PC's and networking equipment.

-They are easily wall mountable.

-They have 3 large AC block sockets. 2 of which are used for "always on" equipment.

-The off/on button is recessed. This is my favorite feature as it cannot be found on many other protectors. This prevents accidental turn off.

-The cord is plenty long.

-The plug is right angled.

5Heroic item from a great companyFeb 12, 2009
By Bonnie Britt
I bought this surge protector years ago and it had always worked as expected. No drama. Then one day a few months ago, there was a short in one of the items plugged into the APC Personal SurgeArrest with the result that the APC device essentially committed suicide in order to save the rest of my equipment. After unplugging everything, I turned the SurgeArrest over, saw, then called the 800 number on back. I wanted to know where I could buy another. The technician said the APC device performed as it was designed to do, and then he apologized for the inconvenience and asked me to check all devices that had been plugged in, which I did. If any had been damaged, he said they were insured and the company's insurer would reimburse me for original equipment but not data. Everything worked fine except the one item that had shorted and that certainly was not APC's fault. The techie said APC stands behind its lifetime warranty, and, at no cost to me, he sent me, by overnight Federal Express, a new APC Personal SurgeArrest.

Does service and workmanship get any better than this?

5Excellent Surge ProtectorDec 17, 2008
By B. Bartz
This surge protector is on the big side, but it gives plenty of room for those bigger plugs, yet there's still room for several smaller plugs as well. Would highly recommend this product.

3Adequate, but far from outstandingApr 01, 2012

You can usually judge a surge protector by its price tag. This one definitely does not retail for $59.88 as the seller claims. Nor does it compare to competitors which actually sell in that price range. On the APC website, this unit sells for $24.99, now discounted to $22.50. The specifications are rather unimpressive. Next time I'll buy a better one. Of particular importance is that the protector notify you when it's no longer working. What I didn't realize when I bought it is that most surge protectors continue to supply power to all outlets after the surge protection is gone. Most people don't know that surge protectors wear out after a few years of use, turning themselves into nothing more than simple power strips.

If you have expensive components to protect (a big screen TV for example) don't scrimp on this. Search Amazon for surge protectors in the $50-100 range to find really good units. Your high quality sound system and other components deserve nothing less.

5Excellent productNov 13, 2011

I have had problem in the past with surge protectors -- this one is of excellent quality, heavy duty, with plugs spaced so that large size plugs don't take up the whole thing. I would high;y recommend this.
