5My all-time FAVORITE mechanical pencil!Feb 03, 2007
By L. Mountford
After over 30 years in the computer business, I retired and became a full-time student. Now in grad school studying music, I go through a LOT of "lead" taking notes in class, jotting down music, etc. I need something with a good eraser, sturdy enough to withstand my typical day on the bus and running around campus.

This pencil delivers! It's slim enough to slip into the spiral wire of my class notebooks, sturdy enough to survive getting "lost" in my book bag, and very comfortable to use for note-taking, with a cushioned rubber grip. The eraser is nice and long, too, and erases without leaving any marks, important when you're dealing with music manuscript paper. As long as these are on the market, I'll be buying them.

5Worth the price! - GELJan 31, 2009

This is still the best! I use pencils hard and have been using this one for years. I keep looking in stores and trying similar pencils so I don't have to pay the shipping on such an inexpensive item. I have tried many substitutes, to no avail. This one has the right features, a long, wide twist eraser that erases beautifully (just don't twist it out too far). Also, the lead holder retracts so you don't have a sharp point to catch in your pocket. When you are ready to put it away, just click and hold while you push the point against something. The lead and holder easily go in so you have a blunt point for storage. The pencil holds lots of lead and the metal pocket clip won't break. I don't recall any pencil ever breaking, I just lose them eventually. There is none better (or as good) that I can find. I keep one everywhere I use a pencil.

5Best Mechanical Pencil Ever MadeDec 23, 2010
By paikra
I wholeheartedly agree with all the other reviewers giving this product 5 stars. I am, shall we say, a writing implement enthusiast and my heart skipped a beat when I saw these for sale on amazon.

I was fortunate enough to get one of these from the engineering firm I used to work for years ago when they stocked them in our office supply closet. When they cut back on higher-end supplies they stopped stocking them and I've been looking for another one ever since, to no avail. As others have mentioned, PaperMate has, inexplicably, stopped making this pencil. The one I have is over 4 years old and I *thought* the eraser mechanism had stopped working. Now that I look at it again, I think it's just that the eraser is nearly used up and needs to be replaced. Regardless of that, I am buying a case of the Logo 4's.

Here's what I love about this pencil: it has the perfect weight and balances perfectly in the hand; it's exactly the right shape and circumference -- not too thin, not too thick; it has a grip that's the same circumference as the rest of the pencil base so it doesn't "bump" out and irritate the fingers; the pencil is slim enough to fit into spiral binders and my day planner, which is crucial for me; the polymer eraser does a beautiful job of erasing completely and smoothly, and the eraser is extra-long so it doesn't need to be replaced constantly like others do.

I have searched for a comparable pencil and, frankly, I haven't found a single one that performs the way the Logo 4 does. I've purchased pencils from big box stores, art supply stores, bookstores, office suppliers, etc. It's very difficult to find one that fits into my planner, and once I've narrowed down the options in order to find the proper size for my needs, they are either imbalanced, have a crappy eraser, feel cheap in the hand, are too heavy or too light, have a clip or grip that irritates my hand or fingers, or all of the above. Any other pencil is a waste of money, in my experience, since I end up being so frustrated by them that I never use them.

Hopefully a box of 12 will last a lifetime! I plan to share these with my stepson, who is 10 and turns in very messy-looking schoolwork because the pencils he uses have erasers that smear everywhere, don't fully erase, and tear paper. So while they may seem a bit pricey for younger people to use, I'd highly recommend them to parents whose children have the same erasing difficulties.

All-around a fine, fine product and it's really unfortunate that they've been discontinued. Amazon will probably edit this out of my review, but I did find these at another retailer for a cheaper price. Nevertheless, I'd recommend buying them at any price before they've completely vanished from the market.

5excellent practical productDec 08, 2007

These pencils are comfortable in the hand. They have the best erasers that are both effective and large. The pencils even look good.

5best pencil everNov 10, 2011

if your in the government or military, this pencil is a must have. i'm still using the same pencil after a year, can you say that with other pencils? i bought a whole box of these pencils, will probably never need another one or refills for a very long time. The lead is small and precise, it is retractable so lead wont break easily, there is ample amount of eraser.
