5Great GlassesSep 17, 2011
By Skeptic
I purchased these to use with my Sony VPL HW-30 projector. The ghosting issues using the Sony glasses was pretty bad. Sitting 10' from a 106" screen you see all the flaws in the picture. Right out of the box these glasses reduced ghosting by 90%. They are also highly customizable so I was able to reduce it even further. They really are amazing! Compared to the Sony glasses they are much lighter with less of a greenish tint and have a greater filed of view. What is also nice is they use radio frequencies rather the infrared so you never lose synch. Honestly they really are great glasses.

5The "when in doubt" glasses!Mar 14, 2012
By Aarem
I have an Epson 5010 projector and the officially recommended compatible glasses are the Panasonic ones. Only problem is, those glasses are (almost) nowhere to be found. So, now there's a 3D projector hanging from the ceiling of my media room, a 3D bluray player connected and a bunch of 3D movies but no 3D glasses. A conundrum indeed.

Started the customary research and ordered a bunch of 3D glasses made by NXG. (That by the way, is a bad move...ordering a bunch of them at the same time without being absolutely certain that they will work. Better to order one, try it out and then order more. Patience!). The NXG glasses did not work - something about the refresh rate of the LCD projectors - they work with 120 Hz, mine is a lot higher.

Then I came across an article somewhere that mentioned these glasses from Monster. Overcoming my near-loathing for products made by this company, I researched a LOT into these glasses and ordered one. They work! Like a charm! Here's how:

3D projectors equipped with an infra-red emitter (either built in, or external) shoot the IR signal at the screen. The signal bounces off the screen and is received by 3D glasses which have a forward-looking IR receiver. Sometimes, these two components are not compatible and don't play well together - for example, the projector shooting the signal at a frequency that the glasses aren't built to handle. Also, when you turn your head too much, the glasses are not receiving the IR signal any more and lose synchrony and hence the 3D effect.

The Monster Max 3D glasses work by removing the whole bouncing-signal-thing out of the equation. The kit has a transmitter-receiver in addition to the glasses. The receiver sits in a place where it can clearly receive the IR signal emitted by the projector - which can be near the screen, or, right in front of the projector's IR port (check out projector's manual. If you still can't tell, shine a bright light into the dark red translucent plastic near the front of the projector and you might be able to see the IR LEDs. Just don't mess with the lens!)

The receiver then plugs into the transmitter which draws power from a USB plug. If your projector has such power-supplying USB port, it should be able to power the transmitter. Mine is plugged into a power outlet next to the projector using an adapter. This adapter is not supplied. I used Nook's and you could use any USB power adapter supplying 5V.

Once plugged into power, the transmitter flashes a bunch of LEDs to show you the signal strength that the receiver is seeing. A few green LEDs tell you that you are in business. Turn on the glasses and enjoy the show. The transmitter converts the signal into radiofrequency (RF) so there is no compatibility issue and no loss of synchrony if you were to turn your head etc. A USB port also allows for updates if needed.

Glasses are not stylish unlike some of the Samsung and Panasonic ones. They look more like rejected Austin Powers movie props. They are comfortable however and fit well over prescription glasses. They are big for the little faces of 6 year old kids but they can still wear them and enjoy a movie comfortably.

Glasses also power off if they don't receive signal for a certain period of time. This function is quite useful in the context of little children!

Conclusion, well made glasses that work. If you have been looking for 3D glasses compatible with your projector, give these a good long look. Chances are, these will work with yours. Highly recommended.

3Does not work with LG PZ550 TV'sFeb 06, 2012
By MDubbs
Well, I had high hopes for these and the super bowl last night.. but, alas I was let down by manufacturers overstating their device's compatibility.

My LG PZ550 Plasma TV natively uses an RF signal to sync their 3D glasses.. These glasses are made to intercept the IR signal used from various other TVs, and then uses its own RF transmitter to synch the glasses.. however there is no solution for TVs (Like the PZ550 series) that already use RF to sync their 3D eyewear.

They look cool, felt comfortable, but were utterly useless as the lens shutters freaked out every time I turned them on..

Dang shame.. :(

5The best, even better than the original TV glassesDec 04, 2011
By Vikas
After going through mixed reviews, I was hesitant in buying them at 190 dollars from Best Buy. The seller at Best Buy told me that these glasses were sitting on their shop for 5-6 months, this added to more worries...!
Hands down, it took not more than 1 minute to connect to my Toshiba LCD-LED 3D tv and worked very well. As stated by the other reviewer, the ghosting went down by 90%. The original 3D glasses which came with the Toshiba TV set are inferior to the The Monster Vision MAX 3D Glasses. Though the glasses feels more plastic or less in quality, they do an excellent job, far better than others in the market.
I am definitely going to buy more of these, just waiting for the prize to drop a bit more.

Just adding to my previous review.
The prize sank from 180 US$ to 115 US$ online after Christmas, so I have already purchased 2 more of these glasses, now whole family can enjoy 3D.
Well done Monster Vision Max, I am a FAN....!
