2Monster HDMI Cables?????Dec 10, 2011
By G. Tom
"See the picture above?....well, it didn't come in that package at all. In fact, it came in a cellophane bag; for all I know, this is a China knock-off. There's no indication from what I received that its real (Unless i'm missing something big-time on the description). Regardless, it didn't come as pictured"

This cable is worth the pay. It gives a good quality video and excellent sound. I bought this mainly to work with Laptop by hooking it to TV. Gives a crispy performance.

I spent my time reading reviews on here and other websites and then thanks to taken people's advice I wasted my money buying 3.00 hdmi cables online at a well known website. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! You get what you pay for in cables. I had issues with drop outs when switching from sat/game and it only got worse. I thought I had a good picture until I recived all of my monster cables. All I can say is Now the picture is awessome!! Thank you Monster and Amazon. 55"toshiba(led),1612 Denon,Energy 5.1 10" sub,Ps3.

5Killer cable at an amazing price!Jan 06, 2012
By TheDude
You can debate about Monster and their prices all day...
But you can't sit there and try to say the cables that came in the box with your components are just as good like some people try to say. It's simply not true. If anything, they're good enough for an uneducated eye or ear - Or low-end gear that cannot perform enough to take advantage of being fed better signals! You're still better off with the better cable! While some say 'Don't believe the hype', that goes both ways here.... NO- Don't buy into hype and pay out the nose, BUT - DON'T be ignorant to the science of it all, either. I don't know all there is to know in the world of cabling, but I AM an audio engineer, and I can tell you that cabling makes a huge difference, both in performance and over time, your pocket!

An example: I have a high-end system in my car, and if I feed it regular iPod audio, or play the files directly through the head unit, it's a total disaster. The system is too good for the file quality and points out its every flaw, so I have to use high-quality, uncompressed (huge!) music files. A $1000 cable can't change that. However if I use an inexpensive "Y" cable to connect an iPod to the back of a regular deck, you aren't even getting close to what you could be feeding that deck, and your sound will suffer dramatically. Whether you're talking about analog or digital signals, signals degrade, and buying high quality cables is the only way to maximize what you get from your gear. Like the old saying goes, "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link"... This is VERY true in the audio/video world. Think of a poor quality cable as a straw with a hole in it- Yes, you can still get a drink... but it's not quite the same.

Nobody says Monster makes bad products. They just question their pricing, innovations they brag about, etc. I've been buying Monster products for MANY years now, with ZERO product failures. Car audio, home audio, audio production, studio recording, radio work... etc... I've used most their stuff, and in many more professional and recreational environments than most people have. Especially when you get Monster's top of the line stuff, you know you are buying quality. Yeah, their overhead is bad... you pay for the name, certainly... But you're shopping on Amazon, so the biggest mark against them doesn't matter so much here!

That being said, I cringe every time I've bought one of their cables at retail. I really try my best to avoid it, but sometimes you just need one right away and can't wait for a deal. Well here's your deal right here. I, like some other reviewers, did in-fact receive a higher-spec'd cable than the one pictured. In both specifications and appearance, these cables are impressive. If you want to come as closely as humanly possible to future-proofing your cables, here are the ones you need to buy. I'm grabbing a couple spares while they're available at these prices. The 12' version of this cable is easy to imagine paying $150 for in the stores, but only $40. You can't beat that.

3D Capable
Audio Return Channel equipped
17.8 Gbps and 240/480Hz Ratings
7.1 Lossless Surround Capable
HDMI Ethernet compatible
Thick insulation
Killer, hefty connectors you won't unplug on accident!
And on and on...

Anything you're trying to do, this will handle it. Whatever equipment you own - this will be compatible the next time you upgrade! That is a BIG deal! You can basically imagine that it's like avoiding buying them at retail, and TWO TIMES at that, when you buy the high-end.

***In audio/video interconnects, overkill is good!***

(As a matter of fact, Monster's "Cable for Life Lifetime Upgrade" program even states "As digital sources and displays continue to improve, the bandwidth requirements of the cables will increase. If the equipment you purchase in the future ever surpasses the bandwidth of this Monster Cable, Monster will upgrade your cable."

This cord is exactly as specified and Monster is a wonderful brand that holds true and is of great quality. The 12' is really nice, so when we can't connect to XBox live and feel like watching Netflix, we can hook up the iPad or Mac and sit on the couch and control it. Sweet!
