HT 800

Technology Today

Advancements in technology have brought faster, higher definition products that are capable of processing large amounts of data but are also quite sensitive to the components that drive them. Too little power and these devices will not function at an optimum level, too much power and these devices can be damaged beyond repair.
Clean Power 1 The Ups and Downs of Power

AC Power by nature is ever-changing, appliances turning on and off in your home causes voltages to surge and spike, and this is sometimes noticeable in the form of lights suddenly dimming. This causes a state of flux for the power running your delicate electronic devices, lowering the performance of the audio/video as well as causing damage to the components. Other conditions such as power outages and lightning strikes only increase this fluctuation. Proper connection to an advanced surge protector that offers integrated system protection can help minimize the risk of permanent surge damage...

Protection You Can Rely On

Unlike standard surge protectors, the Monster PowerCenter HT 800 with SurgeGaurd provides protection against harmful surges and spikes by strategically placed mulitple Metal Oxide Varasitors that respond within one nanosecond to power surges and voltage spikes, your equipment is well protected from damage. Combine this protection with Monster's ultra-low loss RF circuitry and signal loss is minimized on coax connections, providing your components with peak performance for signal from RF sources. Generic surge protectors can have as much as 20 to 30 dB of signal loss which ultimately affects the output performance of coax connections.
150k LCW Keeping it Clean

Fluctuations in power are bad enough for proper electronic devices functionality; add the noise pollution in power lines created by the appliances in your home and outside interference, and protection is only the beginning of the requirement.

Electrical power tools, refrigerators, air conditioners, radio transmitters, cell phones- all generate electromagnetic interference and radio frequency noise which pollutes AC power.

The pollution in the power line has an adverse effect on the performance of electronic devices, preventing them from performing at at an optimum level. Video will not be as crisp and jittery; audio will sound unclear and accurate to the point of even having noticeable levels of buzzes and noise. Monster's Clean Power circuitry filters out power pollution by utilizing special filters to dramatically reduce electronic noise on your AC power line. You'll see a more vivid picture and hear more natural sound with increased dynamic range and less noise giving back the performance you never knew you lost...

Making Life Easier

In addition to protecting your valuable electronics, Monster PowerCenter provides convenience for connecting and placement generic surge protectors cannot. The FlatProfile plug allows for furniture to be flush with your walls, and the color-coded labeled outlets let you know just what is connected, no more unplugging the wrong device. All this combines with a generous 8-foot powered cord, ensuring that no wall outlet is out of reach...

Peace of Mind

With Monster PowerCenter HT 800 you can rest easy knowing that if something should go wrong, your connected equipment is protected by Monsters Connected Equipment Warranty. That is something you cannot find on a generic power strip...

3power conditioner for home theaterAug 05, 2001
By David
I have been using this powercenter for over a year and it works well. What I like best is that I don't notice any loss of signal quality when using the Coax filter. I have noticed this with other coax filters. The color coded and labelled outlets also are handy when moving/adding equipment. This way you know exactly what you are unplugging. A couple things I didn't like about the powercenter is that it is only rated at 15amps (~1800 watts). So if you have a 20amp circuit for your hometheater you are not able to draw all the power you could. This is probably not a big deal unless you have a lot of equipment and are running it all from the powercenter. Another item to watch for it that the coax input/output connectors have a tendency to loosen up. Then when I move the powercenter my sub woofer thumps loudly. Like it is shorting out internally. This is easy fixed or avoided by tightening the coax fittings. Lastly this unit will not take care of ground loop hums that can occur from improperly grounded cable feeds.

1Did not protect, warranty is rediculous.Apr 07, 2008
By Derek D. Pedersen "boxoman"
I purchased this to protect a lot of my expensive equipment. When my apartment was struck by lightning, the power supply failed to protect most of the components. I lost my computer, Yamaha receiver, Nintendo Wii, Wireless router, and HP printer. I figured I could call upon the warranty to get my stuff fixed, but the monster claim process is worse than most insurance companies. Fill out 3 pages, draw out a diagram, send all your equipment to certified manufacturer repair shop, wait for all the quotes, send them to monster, and then wait 4 weeks for a response. I am still waiting to get my stuff fixed. I guess I could deal with this if i new the chances were really low because the surge protector would actually work... I would not recommend this at all.

1Not worth the moneyNov 18, 2009
By DC
I was given one of these as a gift a little over a year ago. Today it decided to die in the same way a couple of other reviewers note, but I'm not convinced it was due to a surge. The unit still works for a short time before it overheats and shuts the outlets off, and you can't actually turn the thing off, as the rocker switch isn't working (no click, no off, and no alarm). I also had two Isobar units plugged in to this line and they are fine, registering no issue. Seems that the HT800 is no better than the HT700 was, which is to say the units are garbage. Monster has shown me once again why their products aren't worth the money.

1This thing is junkOct 08, 2009
By J
Simply put, I had one of these for 2 years then all of a sudden one night all of my components shut off. I checked the unit and some how the rocker switch switched to the off position by itself. When I switched it back on, the switch did not feel right, it no longer "clicked" to the on or off position. Two weeks later all of my components shut off again, but this time the switch was in the on position - total unit failure. Not sure if this thing is still under warranty but I don't really care at this point, I'm done with Monster products.

By James R. Ollick "Jim"
We used this on a piece of medical equipment that was not functioning properly due to a noisy power source. It filtered the niose, fixing the problem.
