This pair of little radios did exactly what I was looking for, and with included batteries and charger in the price were the best value I could find.

I didn't test the radios for the full 27mile range, but they worked perfect within a mile or so while camping. Reception is clear, and never ran into any issues with them not communicating. Battery life was very good.

worked the first time I used them, distance not even close to what was claimed
next time out they were pure static even from close range
sent them back to Midland per their request for replacement, we'll see what happens
UPDATE MAY 9TH
MIDLAND JUST SENT ME A REPLACEMENT. LOOKS LIKE THEY SUBBED THEM WITH A DOWNGRADED MODEL. OH WELL, HOPE THEY AT LEAST WORK

I try a pair of this radios in the sea no more than 1 mile achieved ,in urban area the range is reduced to half. All the 27 miles range is not serious .Not recommended

Purchased this product but in actuality received a product with less features, when i mailed the seller i was given the worst run around ever for weeks. Finally, i grew tired of it and contacted amazon. Amazon jumped on their case and got me helped within the day.

I had previously posted a negative review about my experience along with email correspondences as proof. They immediately asked me if would remove my review since they were now helping me. In an attempt to retain some leverage I told them I would not delete the review until i received a return shipping label and was credited back on my american express. Now in my opinion, dishonesty deserves dishonesty, i had no intention of deleting the proof of their bad business ethic.

As of today (11-20-12) i was cleaning out my inbox, and i decided to check up on my review for this purchase. LO AND BEHOLD ITS BEEN MAGICALLY DELETED!!! Wonder who it could of been.....

Happy to rewrite my review and this time i will email it to myself so that if it is removed i will be able to copy and paste it with ease.

Got these as a Christmas gift for my little brothers needless to say they opened them and threw away all the packaging and when they actually got to use them they didn't work! It shows they were charging and as soon as you key the mic on either of the two they would automatically turn off!!! My little brothers were so upset and I can't even return them because I no longer have the packaging! :/
