4These are the cartridges to get for better on-going value.Jul 02, 2010
By J. Lee "imajeel"
I have a Lexmark x5650 All-In-One. Having owned several Lexmark printers and all-in-ones previously on their "buy our printer cheap, and then spends lots and lots on our printer cartridges for it's life" plan, I looked carefully at printing prices this time around.

I found if you continue to use the regular "non-XL" cartridges (a B&W and Color one of the regular cartridges generally come w/ the printer when you purchase it) - the printers are some of the worst in the industry for the price per printed page. But, using these can get you more than twice as many printed pages and lowers the on-going cost to make it one of the best available options. (There's actually a page on the Lexmark site that Amazon won't let me provide a link to that shows all of their cartridges and price per cost of sheet printed that demonstrates the point much better.)

Here's a couple of TIPS on ways I use that also extend use of these, though they may only work for you, if like me, there are only occassions that you need to print something out in crisp color:

- My default setting for printing is a quick, draft, black and white version. And, when printing a web page - I choose the "text only" option and specify the number of pages. I've set up a second "profile" that is for Best Quality Color - I use only on very limited occassions.

- I just completely ignore when Lexmark tells me to change to the cartridge. At least on mine, I've found that it has a long way to go before it actually runs out - when their software is telling me it needs to be changed immediately. In fact, even when either the black or the color cartridge says it's totally out - it will still give you the option of continuing to print w/ some variation of whichever cartridge still has ink.

Bottom Line: These are the cartridges you need if you want to run your Lexmark more affordably.

1Do Not BuySep 15, 2009
By Deasmen Cobb
This ink Cartridge is single use only! This means that you cannot refill the Cartridge. Although it has a return program where for every 5 ink cartridges you buy, you get one free, I feel that this ink is way too pricey for the amount. I reccomend using 36a and 37a ink, They are not single use and refills average about $15 for both, which is well under half the price. hope this helps! =]

3Worked out for a while but didnt lastFeb 04, 2011
By Cliff
This ink worked ok, but we never used the color ink and it mysteriously got lower with the black ink until they both reached 25% and then it no longer registered as having ANY ink. It was weird but it got us through the semester. The quality of the prints were lousy but if we turned it on a lighter shade of black then it was readable.
pay the extra few bucks for a better ink cartridge.

3Lexmark InkApr 25, 2009

Delivery was on time. Ink works, but there is too little of it for the price. Very pricey. That is a disappointment with this printer.

5Just buy the cartridge that came with your printer (this one in my case)Mar 10, 2012
By Geeyo323
After reading several reviews on different options (refillable cartridge, non-high yield, etc) for replacing my black ink cartridge I chose the #36XL. This is the same one that came with my printer (which lasted forever) and so far I am not disappointed.
