4Great pocket multi-toolJul 21, 2008

I used to own a full-size Leatherman tool, but found I rarely had it with me when I needed it because it was too bulky so it always sat at home in a drawer. This tool does a nice job of balancing commonly used tools in a small enough design that I can carry it around without it feeling cumbersome. The trade-off for the reduced size is fewer features. But I've found I don't really miss the features that were left off this particular model because I didn't use them very often. This model still has several different screwdriver heads, a knife, pliers, and scissors (which work "ok", kind of like elementary school classroom scissors). And for most common tasks, that's plenty. There are some other functions on it but the ones I mentioned are the ones I use the most. The build quality feels solid, just like a typical Leatherman.

5Very usefulJan 07, 2009

I got this for my dad because I have one. I carry it with me everywhere and I may not use it every day but at least once a week. It is small enough not to notice but has all the tools to fix small things with out having to go find your tool box.

5Leatherman. What's more to say?Aug 10, 2011

The multitool is a recommended EDC. It has all the stuff I need, being a crafty student. The medium-sized pliers fit my needs exactly. The quality is outstanding. Bear in mind that I come from old-fashioned sturdy pocket knives.

The scissors actually feel sturdier that those of the Swiss Army Knife. The spring is also way better.

The blade - sharp and strong!

A good thing to have in all situations!

5LOTS OF CAPABILITY IN A SMALL PACKAGE. LOVE THIS TOOL.Aug 03, 2011

I was very excited to receive my Leatherman Juice S2. When I received it I ripped open the package like a lion tearing apart its prey. The whole fit and finish of my Juice S2 are great. I found the Flathead bits slightly hard to deploy but honestly I rather have it that way. If you have long nails or brittle nails it might be very difficult to deploy the Flathead screwdrivers. This might not be how all the tools are but I noticed it with mine. The Philips deployed easily and while none of the tools actually lock they do retain in the open position very well. The blade came very sharp as most Leatherman blades do so that's not much of a surprise. You must deploy the Can opener to get to the scissors but that is fine with me. The can opener is not my favorite but it will work. I decided to test it out and getting it to puncture the can initially was very hard as it is not sharp at all. Once you get that initial cut the can opener is decent. I rather have it than not so i'm not really complaining about it but they could have made it a bit sharper. The Scissors are bigger than most all other Leatherman scissors and perform well. I have not cut a wide variety of materials with them yet but I have tested it on a few materials. They have performed almost flawlessly. Last but not least is the Pliers. They are what I would call Mid Size but will get some work done if needed. While I carry this tool every day it works for my needs. If you have a job that demands pliers in your daily routine these might be a bit small for your needs. If this sounds like you I would look into the Kick,Fuse, and Blast models. I highly recommend the Blast but it comes with a bit more heft. The Kick is great and inexpensive but lacks locking blades and a few tools. Anyways to get back on track The pliers are great for small tasks you might find yourself needing to do while you are out and about. I was apprehensive in paying $40.00 for this tool as I got my Blast for $36.00 but it turns out it was well worth the $40.00 and would suggest the S2 to anyone. If you are looking for something that has a lot of capability in a small package that you can throw in your pocket and have with you on a daily basis this is the tool for you.

3Not as good as it could beJul 20, 2010

For the most part, built very well and has useful tools. Needlenose pliers are very good, knife is a good size and useful, bottle/can opener functions at least for bottles. There are a few things, however, that I don't like:

-Scissor spring stinks - doesn't do a good job re-opening the blades after cutting. I tried getting some lube in it, but it didn't help. I have to kind of push the scissors back open after cutting, which makes it annoying to cut a piece of paper.

-Flathead screwdrivers are impossible to get out. For one, I don't need 3 flatheads, a small and a large would work fine. I would much prefer if they just used two and put some teflon or bronze washers between them, or even just not riveting the joint so damn tight. I have to pretty much destroy a fingernail every time I want to extract a flathead, and usually end up cutting the back of my finger when I finally pop it out.

If you don't need the pliers, go with a swiss army knife. I find them easier to use and are generally have a more elegant design.
