5Right Stuff for Everyday UtilityJul 14, 2007
By Dee Fish
Why the Juice C2 -- I got the Juice C2 in gray recently... was attracted to this particular Leatherman since I wanted a smaller multi-tool (near "Swiss Army knife"-sized) that had pliers but that I'd be more likely to carry routinely. Also wanted only those kinds of tools that I'd actually use on an everyday basis. For me, the C2, with its combination of pliers, knife, corkscrew, bottle opener, and variety of screwdrivers was just what I needed and no more.

Size -- To give you a feel for size, the C2 is the width two small pocket knifes and finger-length/thickness -- put your two middle fingers together and you'll peg the overall size pretty closely. Plier handles are just long enough to wrap 4 fingers around them for good leverage.

Appearance -- The gray color seems to be a durable coating that is unlikely to show nicks and scratches. "Leatherman" and "juice C2" are lightly embossed in white on opposite sides of the tool faces.

Mechanism -- The action of the tools is superb, with the plier-handles snapping into place with a resounding click for example (as do all the screwdrivers as well). When closing the pliers the two halves of the tool snap together -- no need to compress each side together by manually squeezing the tool closed. There are fingernail hooks to get the screwdriver blades out. Only difficulty I've had is extracting the lanyard loop (which is something that you'd presumably leave either out or in semi-permanently). Knife blade comes to a very thin sharp point, which might be brittle if used to pry something open using the dull side (should probably use a screwdriver blade instead). Corkscrew diameter is a bit on the small side but with the "assist" (end of the can/bottle opener serves as a bottle-top prop for the corkscrew)) I believe it will be possible to ease out even the driest of corks. Needlenose section of the pliers is perfectly aligned with hairline precision at the tip.

Overall this multi-tool exceeded my high expectations for the Leatherman brand and if it weren't for the 25 year warranty I'd probably buy a second one as a backup.

4Great Multi-Tool for meOct 13, 2009
By Ted The Reviewer
I was made aware of the Juice C2 through a review in the NY Times. I've never owned a Leatherman but have had an assortment of multi-tool items over the years (primarily no-name brands you'd find in swap meets or discount retailers). Those off-brands would break down, become unreliable or became just too bulky.

After reading a number of reviewes on the C2 as well as other Leatherman models and comparing each model on the Leatherman website, I decided on purchasing the C2 for two reason:

1) Size
2) The specific tools that make up the C2

Size: I wanted something that I could stick in my pocket if I had to. I carry the C2 in my briefcase most of the time but when I do use it, I can stuff it in my front or back pocket with ease.

Tools: The tools I use most of the time are the pliers, bottle opener, knife and the screwdrivers.

There's one other reason-- I wanted a Leatherman! The C2 came in handy in various computer lab moves I've had to perform. Normally, I have a tool belt/bag with screwdrivers, pliers and a cordless drill. There have been numerous times where I'm in a position where I need a knife, pliers or another screwdriver tip and instead of getting up (or climbing down) to get that specific tool, I'll reach into my pocket or tool belt, pull out the C2 and I'm good to go. More often, it's because someone else borrowed my pliers or screwdriver and I have to resort to the C2.

4Great multi-tool for everyday carry and useApr 28, 2009
By Ernest S.
I used to carry a Swiss Army Knife as my every day knife/multi-tool, but found that it had certain limitations. I decided to give the Leatherman Juice C2 a try, and have since used it every day. It is heavier that my old Swiss Army Knife (Soldier model), but the added functionality and design make it very worthwhile.

The only thing keeping me for giving it 5 stars is the following: the screwdriver tips can be difficult to loosen and lock into place. Even after the oiling the joints, they still seem to tear my thumbnail. Also, if done improperly, the driver can snap out and hit your thumb (the extra-small driver actually broke skin when it snapped into place). This is a small gripe, but it does seem to contrast the clean and smooth folding action of the cheaper Swiss Army Knives.

Overall, it is still my everyday carry multi-tool and I don't anticipate replacing it any time soon.

5ideal toolApr 14, 2009
By Mick Felder
I am a professional sign painter, boat owner and do-it-yourselfer. I've owned the C2 for over 5 years now and it's a great sidekick. The knife is high carbon steel and can be honed quite sharp - and it stays sharp! I can slip it in the small pocket of my jeans, and it's so small and light, I forget that it's there. Quality of the tools are exceptional.

I just bought a replacement because the original was confiscated at the airport (forgot to put in checked baggage).
