4Priced well, works as advertised, and simple to installSep 07, 2006
By K. Higgins
I'm somewhat amused by the previous review. If you cut yourself twice using simple scissors to open a plastic box, then perhaps home improvement is not your forte. Based on that, I would question the reviewer's credibility, your call.

It was simple to install (less than 10 minutes, comes with stickers to label the wires, and instructions are as good as any you'd expect) and it works as advertised. If you don't need a bunch of bells and whistles (we did not need each day programmed differently) and want an accurate digital reading, I recommend this. The Hunter brand when it comes to fans is stalwart, so I bought this with that in mind.

5Inexpensive, and works wellSep 10, 2007
By J. Cameron Mills
I have installed 2 programmable thermostats, this one and a Honeywell.

I installed the Honeywell in a circa 1950's house, and the Hunter in my girfriend's 2 year old house.

Both have been dependable (approaching 2 years since installation) and easy to install (I'm a home repair moron). Because of the wide variety of ac's, furniture, heat pumps, make sure you read the instructions carefully.

Neither of my installations had a heat pump, so they were relatively straightforward. (If I had a heat pump, I think I would have spent a bit more money and gotten one specifically for that...)

Advantages/Disadvantages-

Honeywell-Easier to program, more intuitive controls, THE name in household control. More Expensive (Paid around $50)

Hunter- More Features (Filter Replacement Reminder is nice), less expensive (around $25). Controls are not as straightforward, but instructions are easily accessible on flip down face plate.

Bottom Line-Both will save you money. I've seen a decrease of about 1/3 in my heating/cooling bills.

5Works perfectlyMar 19, 2007

I bought this to replace my old non-programmable thermostat and it works flawlessly. The installation was simple and it is not very hard to program.

4Not bad at all.Dec 05, 2007
By K. Oliver "K-Rock"
Not to bad, very good directions. The wiring hook up might get a little tricky if your upgrading a fairly older thermostat but is still doable as it list all the abbriviations and letterings that might be used and provides labels to attach to the wires. Couple draw backs is it does not show the current set temperture, have to press the up/down arrow to see the set temperture. Have hold the arrow for 1.5 seconds to adjust the set temperture which is kind of a hassle when you just want to check it and not change it. When programming it, have to go threw the entire program to get to the one you want to change. Say you to change program 3 for Sunday, you have to go all the way threw the 4 sets for M-F then threw the 4 sets for Saturday just to get to Sunday. You can't just skip M-S and go to Sunday. All are minor but aggrivating the first week or two when your tweaking the settings if you never had a programmable in the first place or your old did not function in this manner.

4Godd for the moneyAug 18, 2008
By Carl Mcbee
Not bad at all. The instructions weren't even close for wire labels on my (granted, quite old) thermostat. However, I still managed to get it right after reading some statements about what things NOT to do. Just read it and take your time. After I got it hooked up, it worked awesome, and the batteries are really easy to change. One happy customer.
