4Nice knifeAug 27, 2010
I cannot attest to its endurability but on my first camping trip this knife was the new star player of my gear. Very sharp out the box and so light I didn't even remember I had it clipped to my pocket a few times. It tore through tough steak like a laser!

The finger flip is great but the thumb flip is almost useless and need to be modified; I'm not sure how I could even do this but I will probably try.

Overall a great knife for the price.

3only a little sorry...Jul 07, 2010
I'm hard on my knives and I'm readily aware that my review is being placed after much abuse...but I only had this knife for a few months. I appreciate still the quality of Gerber, this however is the first knife from them in 10 years that I was able to break, whereas I stiopped buying Spydercos after three almost immediate deaths.

We were doing a tie down on a truck and I had to drop it to catch a sliding crate. My companion came around the corner fast to help and simply stepped on it...hes not horribly heavy nor do I think he came down that hard, but the casing cracked and since it's only held together in a few places by a bolt, it was not repairable. On that note, I love the look and feel of this knife.

As a woman, I do have a little sense of style and appreciate clean lines in a knife so I don't look like I'm carrying a 4x4 in my pocket or boot, so I love how slim this one is. I almost bought another, because it worked wonderfully and was very versatile, but I need something that won't snap when stepped on. My search continues.

5best knife ever!Feb 09, 2010
i love this knife!!!... its light weight, serrated and strait blade makes for multi-functional use...not too big or small.... if you want smaller, you can go with the jr, but i like this size.... ive had several (because of losing them) and i've gifted them to people.... very sturdy..... easy to open and it actually flips out if you get the good wrist flick in there.......very sharp, although if you use it a lot, i suggest to get a little knife sharpener too.... i actually left my last one in someones car, and am about to re-purchase =)

5Nice.............!Nov 22, 2009
This is a sweet little stabber! I own a few Gerber knives and have been very happy with them all. Opens easily in one hand with the flick of your finger. I like the serrated part, very useful for getting a cut started. Very light and sharp. I cut myself with it... ouch !! You won't be chasing bears around with it, but great knife though.

5Affordable pocket knifeOct 06, 2009
At its price point it is light weight, durable, well-made, and has a reasonably decent blade. Great price in the combo pack with the smaller Evo Jr. Easy opening with a single lock (would be even better with a CRKT double lock system) mechanism. Reasonably sharp from the factory with the combo edge cuts rope, tarp, etc. with ease. I purchased the Evo to compare to the CRKT knives of the same type that I already own (M16 EDC and M21 SFG). In around the same price range it is a good alternative, though the blade material is slightly different between the two companies. Finally, given how affordable these are, if one does 'break' a new one won't break the bank.
