4Really Good Pocket Knife - RecommendedJan 29, 2010

I bought the Gerber PR 3.0 while looking for a replacement for my lost Gerber EZ Out that I carried for about 15 years. While not quite what I was looking for (I also bought Gerber 22-07162 Fast Draw Spring Assisted Opening Stainless Steel Fine Edge Knife), this one was so nice that it ended up in my cart. Amazon carries it for somewhat less than I paid for it in a big box store, but it was still worth it. Here are my observations:

Pros:
+ Looks great, the two-tone rubberized grip is very cool
+ Blade is VERY sharp and looks to be high quality steel
+ Comfortable grip provides safer handling of open knife
+ Sturdy pocket clip
+ Locking blade is very secure

Cons:
- Very hard to open one handed
- Sharp edge on bottom of thumb nub\stud catches on clothing, this is the only surprising thing about this knife

Overall this is a very good looking knife with good ergonomics and a great blade, it is only hampered by the two minor issues listed above.

When I first bought mine I had heard that Gerber held a good edge on there blades so I purchased mine. I soon found out it was the best knife I have ever owned. I was so happy with it that I went and purchased 4 more, I know 4 more people who are very happy also. The blade does sharpen easily, and it holds it's edge very well. The handle is made so it don't slip as easy as some that I have owned in the past. And the blade can be adjusted so as to open the way you like. I have a feeling this knife will get handed down to my favorite nephew some day.

Knife Given to me as a gift from a friend. Knife still sharp and has no dings in it. Looking to get a replacement because grips are coming off a bit from getting so much use. Love this knife!!
