The Evo features a 3.43 in.bo blade is constructed of 440 stainless steel and is coated with titanium nitride for added corrosion resistance with a thumb stud for easy one-handed opening. The anodized aluminum handle is designed with oval shaped openings for reduced weight and includes a liner lock and finger guard for an extra measure of safety. 4Finally A Solid Sailor's Knife!Aug 15, 2007

So I've been checking out a bunch of these knives at the local sporting good stores so I can take sailing. I'm looking for a folding knife that I can open with one hand. Most of them were either ugly or the blade can be twisted out too easily (sometimes all it takes is a hard shake and the blade comes out). When I tried this knife I realized this is the knife for me. It felt sturdy, strong, easy to open with one hand but not easy to shake the blade out and a good price. My only 2 gripes are: there's no socket for me to hang this around my neck without having the rope touch the blade and it doesn't come with a sleeve. Can't have it all!

I bought this knife on Gerber's reputation and because it seemed to be solidly built, with its aluminum body. I was not disappointed, as i very much enjoy this knife. It is light, it is easy to cut with, and feels strong in my hand. I have held other knives that felt somewhat flimsy, but that is not the case with this knife. Also, the easy open thumb thing really does help get it open quickly with one hand. Great knife.

This is, bar none, the best knife I have ever used. It is light, comfortable, and easy to open. It feels solid but not at all bulky. plus looks great, cuts great, and it comes with gerber's lifetime warranty. A great buy.

This knife was well thought out and has some real good features but a few minor flaws. I think the good outweighs the bad. At first I was a bit dissappointed and wanted to give it 3 stars but the more I handled it the more I liked it. I bought it because I wanted decent serrated blade length without a lot of weight for EDC - this knife fit the bill which brings me to my next point. As an EDC, a strong, deep riding pocket clip is needed - Gerber nailed it here. I also like the fact that it has features suited for tactical and utility use. This makes it a good all around folding blade and adds value as an EDC.

The finger flipper works great after excercising it a bit and the pocket clip acts as a finger hold while opening it this way. After the blade locks open the flipper takes its role as a hand guard. The EVO rests firm in the hand and provides a confident, comfortable grip. Love the black color and titanium coating. The blade was relatively sharp but not razor sharp. The serrations are subtle and should be good to cut cord, strapping and wire. There is slight jimping on the blade back but the handle edge extends beyond the blade minimizing the effectiveness of the jimping. Control is good enough nonetheless. The thumb studs work but I prefer the flipper. There is no play in the blade when extended. You can attach a lanyard to the bottom handle stay without the blade interfering.

The tip of the blade on mine was not finished correctly which gives the appearance of a slight bend. A bit more sharpening on one side will correct this so it's not a big deal. When I flip it open sharply the liner lock overshoots the butt of the Blade and jams in the locked position. This requires excessive force, sometimes with two hands, to release the lock before closing. I don't think there is anything I can do to correct this defect but I'll give it a few more days of use before I decide on a course of action.

I got it at Dick's for thirty bucks including a Gerber Clutch multi-tool so it was a fair deal. This is a good solid performer that will work well for many uses. I like it more now than when I started writing this review!
