This was recommended by Amazon for my handheld Garmin GPSMap 60CSx, and the item name says that it is for Garmin GPSMap units, but it has completely different connectors and will not fit the 60CSx.

Got this for my GPS 498 while renting a boat for 2 weeks in South Florida. I brought my own GPS down as I wasn't sure there was one on the boat. Not only was there no GPS on the boat, there also was no pin connector avaialble in the rental boat. I ordered this adapter and got it within 2 days with Amazon Prime, plugged it into the lighter receptacle in the boat and into my GPS 498 and it worked like a charm. I was able to navigate the waters of South Florida with my familiar GPS chartplotter which I velcro-mounted to the dashboard. This has a very specific application for a very specific GPS navigation unit, be sure to read all details to make sure it is what you need before ordering.

This item was exactly what I needed! It was a quality made plug with heavy wiring.It fit the 178c gps sounder just as the advertiser stated. People who found it unacceptable must not have read carefully the applications for this part. If you have a Garmin 178c and need an external plug this is your item. Double boxed
