Description:

Upgrade your GN wireless headset or amp. Eliminate mad dashes and missed calls. The GN 1000 RHL lets you answer remotely! Its built-in ring detector alerts you to incoming calls, and then it automatically lifts your handset off-hook when you activate your headset. It takes just a moment to connect the GN 1000 RHL. Once it's set up, you can count on this device to perform. It's fast¿raising and lowering your handset in just a fraction over 1 second. It's quiet. And it's tested to hold up through 100,000 calls and then some! What's more, the GN 1000 RHL uses advanced telecoil (T-coil) technology for highly accurate ring detection. When a call comes in--usually when you're down the hall, right?--this remote answerer sends a tone to your headset. Just activate your GN 9120, GN 9050, GN Ellipse, or GN 9020 and the lifter raises your handset automatically. When you're finished talking, simply turn off your headset and the GN 1000 RHL lowers your phone's receiver. The GN 1000 RHL attaches right to your phone (provided your handset is on the left side), so you don't have to give up any desktop space to accommodate it. And, this clever device provides another nice feature you'll appreciate: there's a built-in online indicator to let your colleagues see at a glance when you're on the line. No more interruptions! This device is compatible right out of the box with most business and PBX phone systems. However, the ring detector feature may not work with some AT&T phones.

Features:

Remote answering capability for your GN 9120, GN 9050 or GN Ellipse wireless amps, or GN 9020 wireless headset

Easy installation

Built-in online indicator

Built-in ring detector

2GN Netcom Phone LifterAug 22, 2007
By Paul Brackley "DigiPix"
I've already replaced this item once. I love the headset but the lifter is weird. My second unit failed today ... just like the first one did: it just quit working. So I started to do research on Google related to problems with it. I also remembered seeing reviews on Amazon prior to our original purchase so I came back and read the three that were already attached to this procuct. I was amazed at the July 2007 review that said GN Netcom tech support said to tap the unit on the side. I did and it worked! Needless to say, I laughed right out loud! Evidently a sensor inside the unit is poorly engineered so that every once in awhile it hits a dead spot. A little "bang" on the unit either wakes up the unit or gets the sensor off its dead spot. Go figure. This item has been around for awhile too, so I'm surprised it hasn't been reengineered. Sounds like an insert should be put with the operating instructions saying, "If unit stops working, bang it on its side."

4Jabra Customer Service on the GN 1000Oct 03, 2009
By GymW "Jim"
While I like the unit as it is trouble free and works well when it works, I do have an issue with Jabra's repair policy on this unit when it is out of warranty. In my case the problem was simply a broken wire in the connection cable. However Jabra refused to sell me a replacement cable. Instead after a number of holds and transfers on their customer service lines they agreed to "fix" the unit for $35 which amounts to swapping the unit out for a working one. In addition to the $35 repair price I would need to pay for shipping and handling in both directions.

It was also difficult to get a price for the return shipping cost as they wanted me to give them a "blank check" by just enclosing a credit card number to bill against with the final price unknown. That is not how I wish do business. They also refused to allow me to cross ship since they were replacing the product. Cross shipping is allowing me to ship the product back to them as they ship me the replacement with the credit card guaranteeing the return of the defective product. If they don't received the defective one back they charge the full price. That way They could have sent me a return label and I could have shipped the damaged product back in their box - a customer and eco friendly procedure as this is easy for a customer to do and the shipping materials are reused.

So given the costs of replacement and shipping I determined it was cheaper and easier to just buy a new one from Amazon at their discounted price and toss the old one away. As such I am now tossing away a perfectly working item into the trash, other than a broken wire, because Jabra will not sell me a replacement cable and charges a price higher than the street price to fix it, when the cost of shipping is added. What a waste and what a medieval customer service policy. Given their customer service policies, I may decide not to purchase any Jabra products in the future. 3Only One Of Its KindMay 06, 2007
By Doug "Author of the Reno McCarthy Series"
This is the only one of a kind I've found of this product. While I applaud the concept and use it regularly, I've had to order six of them in the past two years for the same phone. The Remote Answering Device isn't hardy enough for long term use. It breaks and stops hanging up the phone properly.

5Manual automation at its bestJan 11, 2009
By Angela Sanders "Angela Sanders"
what a crazy gizmo, but it works flawlessly! I bought this for work when I was setting up one of my bosses with a wireless headset for his office phone. Now he can answer and hangup from anywhere in the office. He presses the button on the ear piece and this device literally lifts or drops the handset on his desk phone.
Nice bridge between old and new technology

3remote lifter device works *sometimes*Jul 17, 2007
By M. Torres
Just had this device added to my workphone and it works *sometimes*. Love the idea of cordless and that I can answer the phone away from my desk.

Called GN Netcom CS regarding the inability for the unit to lift the handset and was directed to "tap" the unit firmly on the side and see if it responded better. It did, and that is what I continue to do. It seems they had a cheat sheet that described exactly what the problem might be.

The unit is attached via adhesive to my phone and it will be real hassle to remove, so I slap it to get it going at least once a day.
