This is the best pencil on the market. It is so good that it is always an item we ask for specifcally while on deployments.

Reasons why this pencil is the best:

(1) Since it is constructed with REAL wood and not synthetic wood/rubber - this pencil is very easy to sharpen by hand or with an electronic sharpener. Try sharpening a rubber pencil in an electronic sharpner and it is a total waste of time.

(2) The lead does not break off very easily and can be sharpened to a very fine point. This pencil is more reliable than a more expensive .3mm mechanical drafting pencil at producing very fine lines.

(3) An eraser that works!!! A lot of pencils these days have erasers that do nothing but smear and make things worst. The erasers of lesser pencils simply do not work at all! The Dixon Ticonderoga pencil has a very fine eraser to compliment the lead and it does an excellent job of removing lead without smearing and never ever gets dried out.

Simply the best pencil out there.

This is the absolutely the greatest pencil you can purchase. It writes smoothly and works like a charm. It is easy to sharpen and erase. This pencil is magical.

I am not sure who the people are that are giving this pencil a five star rating but they must not use pencils as often as I do! I am a first grade teacher and these pencils are terrible. I know since I sharpen more than 20 of them a day! They are not made in the USA. They are made in China and Mexico and the ones from Mexico are worse than the ones from China however, they are both poor. I actually have complained to the company and was sent over 24 dozen to compensate me for the poor quality that I have been experiencing. I used to request this brand specifically because they were good at one point...but that is no longer the case. The replacements they sent me are just as bad as the ones I had in my classroom originally. For next year I have changed the brand of pencils that all of our first grade will be using from Ticonderoga to Papermate....we shall see how they work--the pencil wars are on in my classroom. Does anyone take pride in their products anymore????

I am very happy with these Ticonderoga Cedar Yellow Wood Pencils as they are very useful in doing puzzles where I need to erase a lot. The lead is just the right softness and when the tip is sharpened I am able to right with much accuracy. I recommend these pencils highly and if you are in need of a good puzzle pencil then the Ticonderoga Cedar Yellow Wood Pencils #2/HB Soft Lead DIX13882 are the pencils you are looking for. Thanks!

The pencils that Dixon is churning out at its mfg. plant in China are absolute garbage. The wood is brittle, leading them to pull back in chunks from the lead (graphite), which in and of itself is too soft. When the pencil nears the point of being sharp, the graphite breaks up inside the pencil. And you start the sharpening process all over again. The pencils are also off-center, which leads to them sharpening with wood extending as long as the graphite when you can get them to that point. I have found it a necessity to carry a pocket knife to finish the sharpening process when the graphite first becomes exposed. There is a difference between the Wal-Mart Dixon line and the Ticonderoga. I am a third grade teacher and use several different sharpeners, both manual and electric. I have used nearly my entire supply of pencils this year and it isn't even Christmas! This is due to the excessive waste of pencil sharpening. Wal-Mart + Chinese Dixon Pencils = GARBAGE!
