2GENERIC don't last long enoughAug 28, 2004
By C. Cedeno
These generic batteries fit well in the camera (Digital Rebel), and work well. But, they don't last even 10% compared to the brand-name battery. They are good for an emergency, when your brand-name battery goes off.

Be careful when you purchase these generic kind of batteries with different names. They are all the same, with different names, brands, and prices. Bought 2 of them with different "characteristics" and names, received the same item twice, and was charged twice for a single delivery. Buy the cheapest, is the same as the others.

1Does not last - not worth it!Jun 04, 2005
By Shawn Richey
I purchased this battery to save some money. I didn't want to fork out the huge price for the Canon BP511. However, this battery is a complete waste of money. It took maybe 50 photos before I would have to recharge it. Now, it won't even hold a charge. If I want to use it, I have to charge it and use it right away to get my 30 photos.

I am hoping that there are other non-name brand batteries out there that are equivalent to Canon, but this one is definitely not it.

1Great price, lousy service.Jan 28, 2005
By O. Carlson "O"
I've had the stock G2 battery since we bought it and have put many cycles on it. It's still going strong.

I've put about 10 cycles on this thing and it won't even hold a charge overnight anymore.

Spend the money and get the Canon real thing. Or buy 25 of these things.

5Great alternative to the geniune BP-511 battery!Apr 27, 2008
By Cynthia M. Anning
I highly recommend this product for anyone that is looking for backup camera batteries model BP-511. The genuine Canon version of this product is VERY pricey. I bought two of these as backups for the geniune product that came with my Canon EOS D40. They last just as long as the real thing and even buying TWO of the Digipower version doesn't even come close to what you pay for just one of the genuine Canon product. You can't beat this deal!

1Digipower BP-CN511 corrupts my photosDec 27, 2006
By Home Movie Buff "Riptide360"
I have had a problem with my Canon Digital Rebel that I tracked down to the Digipower BP-CN511 battery (7.4v 1300mAh). The battery fits well, holds it charge, but when I take photos it often corrupts the image stored on the flash card. Really weird, but verifable. When I use the original Canon battery no problems. Seems funny the camera powers up fine, but when it goest to store the image the data it is getting corrupted.

I had an incident where the Canon Digital Rebel blew a fuse and I had to pay $200 to have it fixed (symptoms was the battery part got really hot, and the camera acted completely dead).

I picked my battery up at Best Buy, which seems to no longer carry the item. I'd strongly recommend AGAINST buying this non-OEM battery for your Canon.

Looked at Digipower's 1 year warranty and you need original proof of purchase and $5 to get a replacement. Given my $200 repair and lost photos I'm not going to risk it again with them.
