CyberPower¿s 1220RMS offers the combined functionality of both a Power Distribution Unit (PDU) and Surge Suppressor. Providing additional outlets for your rackmount power needs, this model also offers 1800 Joules of surge/lightning protection. The 1220RMS offers 12 (twelve) 20A outlets (2 front, 10 rear-mount) in the 19¿ 1U case. The rugged metal housing can withstand the most demanding environments, and a 15¿ cord ensures compatibility for most rackmount applications. Also note that CyberPower PDU¿s can be wall mounted, desktop, or under-cabinet mounted for use in retail, security, POS, telecommunications, networking, audio/video displays, or anywhere else dedicated power distribution is needed.

I purchased this PDU (Power Distribution Unit) as a heavy duty power strip for my computer and audio equipment to protect it from lightning and surges, and it has worked well so far. I have not yet been fortunate enough to have it in the case of a lightning strike ( I hope I never do haha) but if its built as well as it looks and feels then I have no doubts it will protect my equipment. The device is built like a tank and has mounts on the sides so that it can be placed in a rack mount. It has two outlets in the front which are very nice and convenient if you just need to plug something in real quick without having to reach the whole way around to get to the back. It also has a plastic sort of cap over the main power switch which I really like because it protects the switch from accidentally being bumped off. If you keep it under a desk this can come in handy so that you don't bump the switch with your foot. Overall I highly recommend this!

Word of caution: it requires you to have a 20 amp plug on your wall or it will not work. In case your wondering what it looks like it has 3 prongs the bottom ground the left one is vertical and the right prong is horizontal. So make sure you outlet has the T shaped plug on it.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT POWER SURGE. I BOUGHT ONE SIX MONTHS AGO AND KNOW MY HUSBAND ASKED ME TO BUY HIM SOME MORE. THE ONLY THING THAT IS TRICKY IS THAT IF YOU LIVE IN THE US YOU'LL HAVE TO BUY AN ADAPTER FOR THE POWER PLUG, BUT IT IS REALLY EASY TO FIND.

I ordered 2 of these PDUs to run some sound equipment at church.

The outlets are laid on their side and are fairly well spaced, I haven't ran into any trouble plugging in power supplies or regular plugs.

LEDs are kind of bright and all 3 are on when in operation, but that's not a big deal for me.

Nice heavy power chord, about 6-8 ft long I didn't measure.

only two caveats that come to mind here.. 1) this has a heavy duty service plug and requires a special 20amp outlet (one blade on outlet is crossways), this is because the unit has a GENEROUS amount of room for outlets and frankly, it should have a 20amp service outlet to go with the plug.
2)LED's... I used this unit on a MiddleAtlantic home theater rack and it faces into a room. The LEDS provide decent enough "reading" light but when the screen rolls down, the lights are low, the power LED will allow you to read your tv guide.. suffice to say, a spot of black tape might be in order if this is for your home theater.. The pair of outlets on the front? genius.. I would suggest you order the "outlet savers" as well, they move bulky transformer plugs out of the way and allow you to fully utilize the available outlets..
