5Excellent valueJul 10, 2009

Even though I purchased this item from Wal-Mart, I had to share my review here. I regularly check product reviews on Amazon in order to help me make purchasing decisions, so I thought it may be helpful to someone down the road if I put my two cents in on this unit even though I purchased elsewhere.

I had been looking for something to protect my new 50" plasma TV and Blu-ray player and I thought my best option was going to be overly priced Monster products. Sure, they have high-quality stuff, but you're paying as much for the name as you are the product. Enter the Cyberpower 1030HT. This was the perfect solution for me. Great price and even better specs. This is solidly built and has enough outlets for all but the most sophisticated home theater setups. The unit also scrubs incoming power to take out any interference which allows optimum performance from connected equipment. On top of that, it looks great sitting next to my other components. In addition, each outlet is labeled (monitor, receiver, DVD, etc.) which makes it a no-brainer when plugging in equipment. While you certainly don't have to follow these labels, it just makes life easier. Cyberpower also includes a sheet of cable labels which is nice feature, although I prefer and used the more detailed labels from another well-respected online electronics dealer.

I was pleasantly surprised at the beefiness of the unit's power cord (18 AWG), but at 8 feet long it proves a little unwieldy. Cyberpower does provide two velcro cable straps which helps to keep the power cord a little better organized. I can't speak to the included phone and network cables, but the coax cable is RG-59. Minor gripe, but I would have preferred a beefier RG-6 cable, and for the length provided it couldn't cost them that much more. You also really need to have enough shelf space to set this unit by itself. The top is curved and it's only a few inches deep, so nothing is going to sit on top; and the unit is about an inch wider than most home theater components which makes it look weird sitting on top of something. I prefer the look of unstacked components, but if you like the look of one component on top of the other this may not be the best item for you. And while you could hide this unit behind an audio tower or TV stand, it's really designed to sit next to other components and be shown off. It's too beefy to sit behind a stand.

I wholeheartedly recommend this product. It's among the least expensive out there to offer such an array of features. Put the extra money you would have spent on other brands towards movies or games, this is all you need for the ultimate protection of your prized home theater components.

5Works great for me.Jan 09, 2008

I bought this a year ago for a new 42" lcd tv. I think the product works great. The plug in's are spaced out so you can fit adaptors on it easily and so far it has worked wonderfully. Came on to Amazon to order another one for a new 52" Toshiba LCD tv I just bought from Amazon. My only comment is that the other reviewer who said it was to big must not of campared it to the Monster and other brands that are the same size. That being said, it is a lot bigger than your $15 surge protector from Wallmart.

4Cyberpower 1030 HTJan 26, 2009

well all i have to say to those that consider buying this power surge. three words....IT IS HUGE! I mean don't get me wrong I live in an older home with new wiring but you never know. I previously bought a monster something or other it cost about the same if not more, somewhere in the ballpark of $70 and well it busted. Once the power went out, mind you power outage, not a surge, it crapped out on me. TWICE. This monster of a surge still alive and well. This is my second cyberpower surge the other for my laptop and well they do their job, albeit one's huge.

5Worth the moneyFeb 13, 2009

I have been using the Cyberpower 1030HT for a couple of months and during that time have gone through several short commercial power outages, a brown out and a black out lasting 24 hours. The 1030HT did its job and protected the LCD TV, DVR, Blu-ray player, DVD recorder and audio equipment plugged into it. The LEDs indicating current draw (amps) and voltage level are a plus and I find them somewhat reassuring to look at. If you have the money this is a surge suppressor you should be considering. I would recommend to friends.

5Better than your average surge suppressorFeb 25, 2012
By Robyn LeMaire
We began having problems with our DVR rebooting randomly during programs. After discussing with tech support, they felt it was because of power spikes or brown outs. We were using a surge protector that we bought 15 years ago for $30 so decided to buy a new one. There have recently been some electricity supply issues in my subdivision and wanted to know exactly what was going on and also to protect our electronic investment.

I was extremely pleased with the quality upon opening the package. The clean lines, the way the plugs go straight into the back instead of into the top like most others (taking up vertical room and looking ugly), the bright lights on the front, the beefy and lengthy wall cord, the overall "heft" of the unit, the labels on each outlet and labels supplied to put on each cord. This thing is pure quality.

There are lights on the front that indicate amp draw as well as voltage. Now we can see if we are overloading the surge protector with too many devices (we aren't even close and have a 55" LCD tv, DVR, Stereo, Blue Ray, Wii, and CD Changer all plugged into it!!!) We can also see if the voltage spikes or drops by the front lights. It sets on my shelf stacked with my other equipment and has the same front view profile as any Blue Ray, DVD, DVR, CD Player, etc from the front. By using rear plugs, tt forces the cords to go straight behind instead of loop up like most surge protectors are designed. It comes with some cables that I did not need. It also has inputs to protect coax lines, ethernet line, phone line, etc that I did not need, but is a nice feature for most people with satelite or cable tv. Come to think of it, I may run my Wii through the ethernet jack to protect it from surges also.

Cyber Power should use a little bolder marketing to let the buyer know this model not only suppresses power surges, it cleans the incoming votage from "noise" that can also damage your electronics. After I did my research, I was expecting to pay $150-$200 for a unit with all of these specs and not the paltry $65 I paid!!!

Pros: Exceptional Quality & Design, Great Value, Technically Superior
Cons: Hard to find anything wrong but some reviews said size so here is my only somewhat of a "con": Width of 18" may not fix in all cabinets (it fit perfectly in mine and i have my DVR resting directly on top - looks designed to be together)

Bottom Line: If you need a surge protector and a line conditioner for under $200, get this one for $65 and buy something else for the $125 you are saving!!!!
