The part that is supposed to hold the earpiece behind our ear doesn't really do that. In addition to that, the sound also isn't the best.

Mediocre piece of equipment, at best. I do not recommend it.

2Worked for a while ... then fell apartJan 12, 2007

I purchased this headset for my laptop -- I travel all the time and this was always packed away in my laptop case or luggage. Within one month the cord for the headphone portion no longer worked and had broken/frayed SO I used the mic alone and my computer speakers. The microphone cord started giving me problems 14 days later, and the earpiece lost its "grip" and the mic would slip down all the time. By month 2 this product was completely useless. My coworker purchased the same product and didn't have problems as quickly as I did (which is why I gave it 2 stars and not 1) - so perhaps the moral of the story is this is NOT a headset consistent in quality. My traveling might have had something to do with wear and tear, but in such a short period that shouldn't be the case. Better to spend your money on another product.

1poor audio quality; bad designJul 13, 2007

The earpiece fits badly - it's just a plastic cone that sticks into the ear - no soft ear buds. Audio quality is terrible - mike barely picks up one's voice - people on the other end have a hard time hearing.

No tussle with head piece. Fits neetly on your ear. Almost as if it not there. Sweet handsfree experience. Lovely on skype

I have been looking at all the microphone headsets on Amazon here for about a week, since starting a language program that requires a mic for speech recognition. I was happy to buy another headset, as I love the one I have for my desktop and use it all the time for Skype. So, I was hoping that this one for the laptop could double for both the language software and VOIP calls.

I bought this AC-740 locally at Office Max so as not to have to wait for shipping. I am so tired of looking at these things and was ready to be DONE. No such luck! Finally, one that had an over-the-ear, single ear design, with a boom mic, and in-line volume and mute! It has the pink & green standard 3.5mm jacks, a generous length cord, a nice little clip to attach to your shirt so the cord doen't pull the thing off your ear, and was plug-n-play. So many headsets have SOME of these features, but this one had them ALL, so I brought it home. Wish I had read the Amazon reviews before buying.

While the sound quality is ok and the earpiece is comfortable (and I'm super picky), the mic is worthless. It picks up SOMETHING but apparently not my voice. Well, technically it does, but it comes through garbled, so matter how close or far away from your mouth you place the mic, the thing just doesn't work. I have tried two dozen times to train it to both my computer and my language software, but the quality of the pickup is so bad that nothing can be recognized. You see, my laptop has a built-in mic, and that sucks too (you have to shout), but this thing sucks even worse (failure at all volumes).

Overall, I'm HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED, and would not recommend this to ANYONE. Now it's back into the car to return it, the same day as purchase.

As a side note, the other set I have for my desktop and love is the Logitech ClearChat Style Headset. I see it has a few bad reviews on Amazon, but I have not had any of those troubles with it. The sound is really nice (I like watching movies with it) and the mic sounds clear and nice for everything from voice recognition for the language program to Skype or other VOIP calls. My friends tell me it sounds the same if not better than a regular telephone. Plus once it's in place correctly, you can forget you're wearing it, it's so comfortable. I can't stand buds in my ears (they make my ears hurt/ache) or a band over the top of my head (causes tension headaches for me). Stupid, I know, but it really limits me to these over-the-ear styles of headphones.

I think I'm just going to re-order the headset linked above after returning this one, and suck it up and have to wait for it to arrive. Sometimes it's better to just stick with something safe.
