Poor Audio, Nice CordApr 26, 2012

Bought this at Radio Shack a while back, liked the look of it and I like how it fits in my hand, but it just has poor (muffled) sounding audio, as tried on several different radios.
Not really a loss though, I took the nice mike cord off and used it to fix another mike. (6 conductor cord.)
Spend $3 more and buy the HG M75 power mike, that one works much better.

have this mic on my galaxy its very clear and nice to hold. metal grid cover give good grip to your thumb. long cable for a floor or over head mount. trigger is frim and smooth. shipping was nice. overall good deal

I purchased a HG-73 dynamic mic. I thought it was a good looking mic to replace the stock mic on my 29 series Cobra. I never thought this was going to be the best performer available, but I can honestly say that I expected more; no, alot more from equipment coming from Cobra. And for about $5-$10 more, you can get an awesome Astatic 636L.

Good:
The 9' cord that is prewired with a standard 4 pin connector for compatability with many of the more common radios is very flexible and doesn't seem like it would easily be over stretched.
The metal grill/mesh gives much more area for your voice to reach the cartridge so it is more forgiving if your mouth isn't perfectly aligned with the mic. The stock Cobra mic has only a nickle size hole.

Bad:
Feels very cheaply made. It feels like if you hold it too hard it might split in half. (maybe in time it will??)
The audio quality is very poor. It may even be worse than the stock mic.
The outer casing on the cord broke apart, revealing the inner wires. This happened after just a few weeks of minimal usage in my wife's car.

do not buy,stock mic definately works better,and modulation is horrible on the cobra hg m73.
