Expensive, but NEVER has droppedAug 26, 2011

Ok I agree, it is expensive compared to the other cards. I have no experience with any other card, but this guy has NEVER dropped and that is what I needed. I initially had difficulty with the install. Maybe my motherboard is a little warped, but I had to remove the metal bracket (easy.. comes with compact bracket if case needs it) for it to be able to completely plug in.

Then it worked! (well if its not plugged in, can't really criticize it if it doesn't work). I used their software instead of the Windows . I actually like it better.

My router is quite far 30-40 feet, through several walls and corners. I get the same speed (12 mbps) as if plugged in to the router directly. The connection it claims "good" (not excellent, as when it is next to it....) so it gives a realistic gauge of signal strength.

I almost did not purchase with fear I could not get the antenna out of the case. The antenna does NOT unplug, BUT is very flat with a removable stand easily slipping in the bracket hole. Really a non-issue.

This is a great product but if you aren't really good with computers you probably wouldn't want this kind of adapter because you have to open up your computer to install it but this is a great product it connects instantly....The only real problem for me is I can't use it anymore I have a system with vista on it now and you can't connect this to vista its not compatible!!

The Cisco Aironet wireless adapter does not work for 64-bit Windows. I found this information impossible to find with repeated web searches and so am warning potential buyers here after personal experience.

Furthermore, the account creation process and driver update process that Cisco uses is a nightmare. If you are not a Cisco Partner or business affiliate there is no method for the end-user to download updated drivers from Cisco themselves. It can take up to 12 hours after account creation for it to be registered in their system and it is then flagged as a "guest account" with virtually no privileges(for instance, accessing driver downloads).

I returned this product. Highly NOT recommended.
