5Just rightApr 23, 2009
By Vick Ferrari
This calculator is only 3 1/2 by 2 1/8 inches when closed. I researched before I bought it. I wanted a small, basic calculator to just sit on my desk and await my commands.
It has the percent, square root, +/-, and memory keys. It has two way power. It sits flat when open. There is no tension in the hinge so it will not hold itself in a bent position. I have no trouble holding it in one hand when I use it. It snaps closed firmly.
It's a great little calculator. It will fit in any pocket I can think of and it's allways ready. Price is right too.

5Keep your hands off my calculatorJul 14, 2010
By Lexi Genoa
We're professional farmers and have to continually calculate on the go. Whether it is calculating water consumption, chemical application rates, or profit margins on machinery, animals, or grain markets as well as shipping costs, all of our people carry this little jewel in their pockets to be whipped out in a flash. They are like having another hand they are so handy to have. They've lived through rain, irrigation sprinklers, heat, sweat, dirt, and unmentionable other adventures and still last three to five years. Long enough the finish is scratched and worn down to the under-plastic. They fit in the shirt pocket easily and yet a blunt finger doesn't hit two or more keys at a time. These are perfect. I just ordered 10 because we need backups. The thing that usually goes wrong with them is they get borrowed and don't find their way home. Occasionally they are dropped from high places or had the fatal squeeze put on them. One actually worked for quite a while with a cracked screen....

Don't pass this little jewel up.

5Close to PerfectionJan 23, 2010
By J Keistler "johnrktx@sbcglobal.net"
I still have my TI Datamath that my parents bought for me in college, in 1973. It cost nearly $150, and does the basic four functions. The LED display ate so much power it that it only has a charger and built-in batteries.

These little Casio calculators are a perfect companion for someone who needs ultra portability in calculation. Do others remember the credit card sized calculators, such as the Canon Flash Card in the 80's? Trouble was/is, they are too delicate, being susceptible to breakage even in a suit coat pocket. These little Casio calcs use a folding display so that the vulnerable parts are protected when it is closed. Those shopping on here will see various models according to their extra functions; Canon, etc. make similar calculators.

I have a silver-finish Dual Leaf that has been pulled in and out of pockets so much that the silver finish has actually worn off the edges. Still works perfectly. I recently came across an all-black one and picked it up for a backup. Another advantage of the Dual Leaf over some of these ultramini calcs is that it does have a battery backup for the excellent solar cell. So many of these very inexpensive calcs only have solar, and I have been in meetings in rooms that don't have sufficient light to power them.

The display on the Dual Leaf is very large, in fact larger than my desk calculator. This can also be an advantage to those of us with older eyes!

I see a negative review on here from someone complaining that once opened, the calculator freely articulates. In other words, one can't expect the display/lid to hold at any angle other than fully open. I prefer it as it is. If I open the calc and place it on the surface beside me, the display can be easily read from the flat surface. Better yet, the current design allows the user to open and operate the calculator with one hand--I do it routinely.

I use an HP 12C for more complex calculating, but this little Dual Leaf is perfect for one needing pocketability combined with durability. Highly Recommended.

5Best Small Folding Calculator AroundAug 02, 2010
By Paradise Reviewer "Aloha Peeps !"
Pros: Size is the number one factor along with the ability to fold (Folded it measures 3.5 inches by 2 1/8 inches.)

The folding feature protects the LCD which is prone to crack on other calculators that don't have the hard folding cover like this Casio SL-100L. (I know this too well as I have destroyed quite a number of other calculators that had and didn't have folding covers.)

Ability to use both solar and battery is another major factor that makes this a top-notch calculator.

Your ability to do most any sort of common everyday calculation on the Casio SL-100L is another major plus. With the huge 8 digit display you can go up to 99,999,999. That's some serious numbers if you're talking money.

The ability to change the battery yourself is another major plus however you will need a rather very small screwdriver. This calculator can be found for very cheap so in reality if you don't want to deal with it you can just toss it and buy another one. Sometimes they can be hard to find because they sell out quickly. This is a testament to just how really great this little calculator is. Whether you keep it in your purse or pocket you never have to worry about damaging it though SITTING on it will probably crack the LCD. The batteries are insanely cheap. I bought a ten-pack on Amazon for $2.79 with shipping free. (Battery number: LR54/LR1130)

It comes with ridiculously easy to understand instructions on the back of the blister packaging paper card.

Easy to read 8 digit display (and I have pretty bad eyes.)

Large easy to read buttons.

Clip holds the folding calculator closed when not in use.

Lays flat on a desk or table with the display on top and the keypad below on the other half.

I've had this Casio SL-100 for years and years. They last a long time. (Update: Another reviewer AFTER me had theirs for 8 years before having to replace it.)

Disclaimer: I do not work for Casio.

Cons: Wished they came in more colors.

This calculator will pay for itself many, many times over. Whether shopping or doing business calculatons you will thank yourself for having this little Casio SL-100L in your pocket. I have corrected countless screwups by waiters and waitresses who think that people don't check (that's because many people don't.) I calculate my tip with it and always give exactly the right percentage (according to the level of service or course.)

You can't go wrong with this calculator. I know it's JUST a calculator but life in modern society is deeply entrenched in numbers so make sure the numbers are in YOUR favor...always !

5Repurchase of my lost oneNov 01, 2009
By Jennetta Pierce "JPierce"
I had lost my original Casio calculator. I was so happy to have found this one. I was happy to purchase agiain. I love the large buttons, large, clear display, and the fact that it is foldable and solar powered. The keys are smooth making each key stroke very easy.
