4Great Product For The MoneySep 28, 2005
By Norfeest "Yes Yes Y'all"
I bought one of these about a month ago and so far so good. The direct USB connection makes it easy to upload music. If you have Windows XP, then there's no software needed; you just plug it in and a folder opens up. Putting music on this thing is as simple as dragging and dropping your favorites onto the folder. The instruction manual isn't much help, but instructions are probably worthless if you possess a little common sense. You can't play M4A (Ipod) songs, but it still plays MP3 and WMA, so it's still a good buy. It holds 256 MB (about 120 songs). It's not neccesarily top of the line, but for $50 - $60 it's definitely a solid pick up. I recommend checking it out.

Package includes Installation CD, Instruction Manual, USB Cable, Neck Strap Ear Phones, and One AAA Battery.

1COBY Has Quality ProblemsJan 31, 2006
By M. Duell
Bought this for a Christmas present for my son. After less than a month, it would not work. Have to send it back with a $6.00 money order. My only other experience with COBY was a DVD player. After a month, had to send it back with an $8 money order. COBY is not built to last more than a month.

3a mix of good and badOct 05, 2006
By KT
Picked this mp3 player up simply because it had a low price, and I wanted a player to use while exercising. I had never heard of Coby so I wasn't sure what I was in for...

The good: Easy to set-up and use right out of the package--didn't even have to install anything. Simpy drag and drop mp3's from Itunes into the "portable device" icon. This player is pretty small so you can use it virtually anywhere. Runs on one AAA battery. Decent little lcd display that so far only shows the song title. From what I gather there are several options you can use, such as playlists, repeat, etc. Have only had it one day so I haven't gotten into all that just yet.

The bad: Seems a little flimsy...not sure how long this thing will hold up. Function buttons and overall unit have a "dollar store" feel to them, kinda like a cheap toy out of a cereal box. The ear buds included in the box are junk. I guess you get what you pay for...maybe it will work for years on end but somehow I doubt it. Probably would be wise to invest more money into your mp3 player purchase and get something with a longer shelf life. Also, it is worth mentioning that the instruction booklet for this item is a joke.

i liked it because it was my first mp3 player and it's easy to control, my friend brought over her video ipod and i could even make my way around it. nowhere near the experience though, but like i said great for beginers

1Horrible, horrible product AND customer service.Jan 08, 2006
By C. Allen
I had this item for about a month before it started screwing up -- the mp3 player wasn't working right -- some songs that are definitely mp3 format won't play, and all the menus are messed up -- the text on the menus is totally gone, so a blind guess is all you've got if you want to change any format/playback options! spend more money and get something more dependable! Coby charges $6 for replacement and apparently doesn't give refunds (all I could get from customer service was generic emails), making it not-worth-the-trouble-or-money to send back. THEN, after another 4 months, the product won't even work as a USB drive to store anything. This is an AWFUL product, and the company is impossible to deal with.
