This chalk produces strong, brilliant colors for artwork and paper and surfaces other than chalkboards. Chalk can be blended directly by applying one color over another or by rubbing with fingers. Beware - this is DRAWING chalk (not for a chalkboard)Jan 21, 2008

I was confused and purchased this chalk for my son's chalkboard. Apparently it is not the "normal" chalk used for a chalkboard because it is extremely difficult to erase. We had to put this chalk away and use different chalk.

On the pro side, there are a lot of great colors with this chalk and if it erased easily on a chalkboard, we'd be extremely happy with it. I didn't realize there are different types of chalk for different surfaces!

Crayola makes a great quality chalk in many bright and true colors. One piece of my chalk was received broken, but must have happened before shipping, as shipper ships them quite well cushioned. These chalks have a light coating on them that can make it difficult to begin that piece of chalk, but this is only temporary and once you use thru that coating, the chalks work like a charm. They hold their color pretty well after spraying with fixative. Great buy! But this are NOT pastels if that is what you are looking for. They are wonderfully bright and vibrant!
