I have tried TDK brand with many errors and many problems on my Magnavox and Philips DVD recorders. But only the Magnavox and Philips DVDs work flawlessly on these machines. I record daily on these and have nearly flawless performance over several years now using the Magnavox and Philips brand of DVD+R. The nice thing about the +R versus the -R is that the +R is ready to play in most DVD players and computers without needing finalized.

1Magnavox DVD blanks unreliableApr 15, 2012

Magnavox DVD +R 100 spindle

Terrible quality. Don't waste your money on these. Magnavox DVDs are worse than worthless for backup purposes - even if they do burn, you often cannot read them later.

My two DVD burning drives worked very well in the past and continue to do so with other brands of blank DVDs. Rarely do I have a problem burning or later reading other brands of blank DVDs. Fully 29 out of 90 Magnavox blanks would not burn at all because of some power out of range error. Of the ones that did burn, almost all of the discs read very very slowly, or worse - half the time even the drive that burned them cannot read some of the files. This is true for all types of files - whether MS Office documents, PDFs, multimedia, etc.

I had to purchase a different brand of blank DVDs and reburn all the backups I had made to back up the files for my business. My wasted time was worth a lot more than these terrible Magnavox DVDs. The near loss of irreplaceable business records would have been catastrophic.

I had TDK DVD+R media for about threee years and have not had any problems. With Magnavox I had two failures in the row copying dvd files. I used TDK and worked nicely and instantly.
